  1. Something tells me he's not as bad as he's being made out to be by some. Or at least he's capable of improvement. He's sure got the speed for CF.
  2. C'mon man, us savvy metric-wise fans all know that the elite hitters only fail 6 out of 10 times, if they have a .400 OBP or close to it.
  3. We're talking about psychological stuff, so it's all anecdotal evidence.
  4. Is it possible for us to have a starting lineup made up entirely of players whose name ends in Z?
  5. Well, if we get to the real playoffs, Cora would have to figure a way to have Kike out there at the end of the game for sure.
  6. Long hair is what sets us apart from the Yankees. Speaking of which, if you click on Joey Gallo's B-R page, it shows him with beard and mustache in a Yankees cap. It's comical.
  7. Establishes your age.
  8. Ottavino is turning around the narrative of Yankee fans that he fades late in the season and doesn't like the big moments.
  9. My vote will always be the 1978 playoff game. Followed by 86 followed by 03.
  10. Right. Thankfully for us, the 2004 team rectified everything.
  11. He put Pedro in an awful position. Pedro was old school enough not to ask out of the game. But doofus Grady somehow missed that Pedro thought he was out of the game after the 7th!
  12. That is a very good question.
  13. Cora will figure it out as good as you can. Personally I think he's an absolute maestro with how he uses his bullpen.
  14. Like I say, Pedro wasn't finishing the game. Ergo, Grady needed to turn to the pen. After the hit by Williams, Grady went out to the mound to talk to Pedro. That's not what a manager is supposed to do. He's supposed to make up his own mind.
  15. You do realize that if the team had this little patience, we never would have seen that great August by Dalbec?
  16. Even Nostradamus would have lost money trying to predict baseball.
  17. Richards is making 10 million, so there's a bit of a flaw in the bargain long reliever thing.
  18. The pen was lights-out that postseason. It is what it is. I think the real bottom line is that there was no possible way Pedro was finishing that game, considering he was at 123 pitches with 5 outs left. So Grady had to rely on the pen, he had no choice. He just didn't do it soon enough.
  19. Pitching is crucial, but it's a team game. I don't think we would have gotten out of that 2004 ALCS without Ortiz...and so on. I'm surprised you're going down this road.
  20. I'm not sure that's a serious question, but for a couple of recent examples: 2019 JD OPS .939 2015 Ortiz OPS .913 So it would be a "they were not the problem" thing.
  21. OTOH Ortiz and JD are pretty special hitters who were very helpful in winning 4 rings.
  22. JD makes 22 million a year and needs to OPS 900 to earn it. Comps with Dalbec are 'specious', as Softlaw might say.
  23. Bobby Freakin' Dalbec. Really has it going at the plate.
