  1. As far as Freeman is concerned, I hope the Braves get that deal done so the Yanks can't swoop, because I think Hal might give that one the financial thumbs-up.
  2. The bottom line is, Bloom is probably not going to do anything that the fans want, including moon's persistent requests to trade Vaz. And we probably won't know if we like what he's done until sometime in April, 2022.
  3. Lynn made a catch on a Saturday Game of the Week, it was in Baltimore. A ball that was headed over the fence, Lynn had a long run, leaped and caught the ball on its way over the fence and pulled his glove back in the same motion. It was one of the best I've seen. Here's the clip - it's the second highlight.
  4. He should IMHO.
  5. We already know that the owners were seeking to lower the tax threshold to 180 million and the players said that was a non-starter.
  6. And Bloom is rather glacial himself.
  7. $320M, that's easy. We're early in the game, but it remains to be seen whether any $300 million contract will prove to be worth it. As far as I can tell, the most expensive contract that's been clearly worth it is Scherzer's $210 million.
  8. Last 5 AL MOY winner's teams - all low payroll teams: TB TB MIN OAK MIN Looks like the last time the manager of the WS champs won the award was Ozzie Guillen in 2005. It's a joke.
  9. Yeah, I have to think some voters penalized him for that. They've been known to let personal feelings influence their votes.
  10. Weaver's comments about baseball are the most sensible I've heard.
  11. I'm not judging Lindor based on one season. But I will judge that the 341 million was nuts.
  12. Forget it then LOL It's time for someone to come to their senses. 4-5 win players (in their prime) should not be getting anything like those numbers. Xander is not Mookie.
  13. "Might" is right. Your final verdict will depend on how Downs develops, right?
  14. Needless to say he's a perfect fit. How high do you have to go to get him is the question.
  15. Risk factors are everywhere. Lindor signs with the Mets for 341 million and turns in a .734 OPS. Mike Trout misses most of the season with a strained calf - a strained freakin' calf, on an innocent-looking play.
  16. About risk factor: -Carl Crawford had a much higher WAR for his age when we signed him than Seager has. -Red Sox fans consider the Crawford signing one of the worst, if not the worst, in team history. -Crawford's deal of 142 million is less than half of what Seager is projected to get!
  17. Seager is a fine player, obviously, but they're projecting him to get 300 million. Man, that's a lot of dough.
  18. I count 9 teams that have given out contracts higher than 217 million.
  19. I wonder if JH decided that the 217 million for Price was the highest he ever wanted to go. When you think about it a bunch of other teams have given out contracts higher than that. Even Seattle!
  20. His existing contract has 4 years and $80 million left. Your offer is reasonable, but in the current market it's probably light. I'd go $150/6, but that would probably be light too!
  21. The biggest spending years were 2018 and 2019.
  22. Red Sox fans are no different. Probably no fans are.
  23. Well, that's one way to look at it, I guess.
  24. And I said E-Rod's isn't team-friendly.
  25. ??? E-Rod's deal is not team-friendly.
