  1. Alex Yer Due. Go!
  2. Guaranteed Rate Field. Somehow, it doesn't sound like the name of a business that's built to last.
  3. Exactly. How can we knock Henry's modus operandi when we have the most titles since he bought the team? We have 4, the Yankees have 1, the Dodgers have 1.
  4. I guess $120 mill guaranteed with an opt-out after 3 years wasn't so bad.
  5. Mookie went on record to say he came close to accepting an earlier extension offer, but his mother essentially talked him out of it...
  6. Yes, the opt-out can certainly be a factor in signing the player, so from that perspective they can have value. But down the road, they're not good for the team...
  7. I will never believe they traded Betts just to reset. I think the main reason was to get something for him.
  8. Bogey's contract situation is a reminder that opt-outs RARELY work in favor of the team.
  9. The thing I'll always wonder is what Henry's limit was with Betts. I'm guessing it was $350 or $360, the same as he got from the Dodgers. It'll always be a mystery why those negotiations went nowhere.
  10. I'm just here to correct moon's factual errors, that's hard work enough.
  11. If we're placing the blame for Mookie leaving on the head of baseball ops, then it should be DD who gets the blame. He was here for the prime years in which to sign Mookie to an extension. I don't see blaming DD or Bloom, myself. They're not the ones who decide how much is too much. If there's any blame it's on ownership. They did not want to go the distance.
  12. No, Beni was traded before the 2021 season.
  13. You're talking about DD now. DD was GM that fateful offseason of 2018-2019 when offers between the team and Mookie were exchanged.
  14. Good old Joe Kelly doesn't mince words. "The guy is a douche", he said about Donaldson.
  15. I was going to post the same thing, but moon was a bit crafty with the "early May" part.
  16. Giants and your Packers are tied for 5th place in Super Bowl wins with 4.
  17. Overall accuracy was 74.4% that year. My original reference was to 35-40 yard kicks as being high-percentage. I had forgotten that Norwood's attempt was from 47. Nonetheless his is the missed FG everyone remembers most.
  18. Marwin Gonzalez has taken his talents to the Bronx.
  19. Frank Howard didn't really fall in either category. He just had a huge frame.
  20. This homemade chart shows the NFL average from 47 yards for the years 2009-2019 at 75%. That's a fairly high percentage play. You're right about Norwood not being good beyond 40.
  21. I don't think that's right.
  22. Fan perception/media perception. Bill Buckner's career was negatively defined on one play and he freely admitted that it made his life miserable. It's a real thing.
  23. Judge is too old to get $300 mill IMHO. He probably will though.
  24. Vaz has a .723 OPS in May after .523 in April.
  25. Which prompted an article by Joel Sherman in today's NY Post titled: Josh Donaldson's latest run-in raises difficult questions about just what kind of teammate he is
