  1. 2 and 3 are strong possibilities. 1 and 4 are extremely doubtful.
  2. "Game" would have worked too.
  3. Maybe it's just a bad idea that will be nipped in the bud by the 2022 Red Sox.
  4. Not over yet.
  5. They're bad, but they're not that bad. Sox relievers had a 4.09 ERA going into today.
  6. I don't think it's the usage that's the problem. I think the problem is that it's a collection of mediocre pitchers and worse. This bullpen is all on Bloom, there's no way around it. He put it together, and it's bad.
  7. Good observation. Also, Cora used Davis to pitch the 9th in the last Chicago game with a 16-7 lead, presumably just to get some work in. Maybe it should have been Strahm in the Chicago game, and Davis last night. These are the kind of questions that should be asked of the manager. Edit: Strahm actually has the better WHIP and FIP. But your point stands that he was idle too long.
  8. Seems very possible that we have the worst bullpen in baseball.
  9. Cora can't DFA him. Cora will use the guys that he has. Obviously they've been hoping for a turnaround that hasn't happened.
  10. I'm just thinking I can probably find a west coast trip where they did okay. But you're right that they're usually a struggle.
  11. Are we talking about a wager?
  12. You're right, what I meant was our traditional pitch the 9th closer types.
  13. The plan with Whitlock was obviously to make him a starter. The plan with Houck is more of a head-scratcher. We'll see some sort of resolution to this soon, I think. But of course I'm a managerial Pollyanna.
  14. That's baseball! Crazy freakin' game, but you gotta love it.
  15. Not really Cora's fault his top 3 righty relievers going into the year were Barnes, Brasier and Robles.
  16. Cortes is one of those guys who looks a lot older than he is, especially with that bad mustache, which I'm sort of surprised the Yankees allow. Do they inspect mustaches on a regular basis to make sure they're still within the team guidelines?
  17. Cortes has been beastly.
  18. I'm on board, believe me. Especially because he looks like he's really been working on his physical conditioning and fielding skills.
  19. Story now with 37 RBI.
  20. You can't keep all your stars, that much should be obvious. I think the payroll has to be viewed as a pie chart.
  21. Not unless you count the early give-up on his groundouts...
  22. We really have no idea what they anticipated with Sale. He did pitch 147 innings in 2019 and struck out 218. His FIP was 3.39.
  23. Why are you talking about "any team" when the highest payroll teams are spending 5-6 times as much as the lowest payroll teams?
  24. Rob Manfred is probably open to suggestions in that area if it'll make more money somehow...
