  1. Barnes and Brasier on a two-man rocket to the sun.
  2. The box score is just glaring at them. 2-3-4 hitters all excellent numbers. And the rest absolutely suck.
  3. The offense, what there is, is still being carried by 3 guys, 2 who are likely gone by next year, and the other who may be gone the year after. That has to be causing the front office a bit of anxiety...
  4. Brasier and Barnes on a two-man rocket to the sun?
  5. This is supposed to be a serious discussion!
  6. Right, but why did Seager score and Correa get left on the sidelines? Blind luck, perhaps?
  7. You're assuming facts not in evidence.
  8. Do you know when the Dodgers presented the offer?
  9. Words are cheap. Actions are more telling. Mookie didn't have to sign an extension with the Dodgers. We all thought he was one of those guys who wanted to take the risk and get to free agency. Seems like he wanted to be in LA, does it not?
  10. The only thing is, "fair market value" is a matter of opinion. There's no consistency at all in the deals guys get. Seager got $325 million. Correa, who is 5 months younger and has a higher career WAR, got $105 million (with opt-outs each year). That's a wild disparity for two similar players. It's not a rational market.
  11. And now the score, Five to One, is a Doors' song.
  12. You missed the point. You're the one who said "We'll see who's right."
  13. This thread is about how much we would pay, not whether Bloom will do it. So there's no right or wrong.
  14. Jeez, you're all questions and no answers.
  15. Maybe we are heavy on warm-weather hitters.
  16. Yeah but you're still not saying who you actually like.
  17. You're a hard man to please, you know. You don't like Eovaldi because of his career old school numbers. You don't like Cole, who has great career old school numbers, because of one postseason outing. We're yet to hear of too many guys you actually do like. Bob Gibson, I suppose.
  18. Your odds of being right are better than 50%, no doubt.
  19. I really have serious doubts about the importance of FIP.
  20. The Yankees would probably take Nate off our hands. (Playing dirty now.)
  21. Well, if you're into the Johnny Clutch stuff, Eovaldi seems to fit the bill?
  22. Of course. But how many are slam dunk great deals? Scherzer's with the Nats was, in retrospect. But he's an exception.
  23. To me, Eovaldi is a guy who has made himself a much better pitcher. Look at those fantastic K/BB numbers the last 3 years. Plus from all accounts he works super hard keeping himself in top shape. The durability of his twice-repaired arm is obviously the big risk factor.
  24. I hear what you're saying. But guys who check all the boxes like Cole get $324 million. Expensive times.
  25. Chapman is a potential problem. A closer with a walk rate over 6 is not ideal.
