  1. I do think the Sox FO is going to do something to appease the fans a bit.
  2. Especially because he's off to such a great start this year...
  3. You have to figure Bloom was told he had a (taxable) payroll of about $240 mill to play with this year.
  4. The proof of what a GM's budget is is what he spends. No GM in his right mind would not spend up to the budget.
  5. The only real differences are: -Boston has a lot more money -The fans and media bitch a lot louder when things are bad
  6. Wonderful optimism, Larry.
  7. I think you should address those folks individually, instead of this "some folks" stuff that doesn't make it clear exactly who you're talking about. I've defended Bloom plenty of times but I've also criticized him. After we blew the first Baltimore game I said he's the one who constructed the bullpen, and it's bad.
  8. So who HAVE you supported?
  9. What a bunch of BS. There's hardly anyone here who hasn't criticized Bloom at times.
  10. If we're clearly out of it at the end of July, you think it would make sense to hang onto JD and Eovaldi?
  11. Well, it did happen a mere 8 years ago, in 2014, when they traded Lester and Lackey.
  12. Yes, it's best not to blame anyone. Idle speculation is rampant on this board!
  13. It was cheap if he was 100% healthy. And thereby hangs a tale.
  14. OK, but you can't really strike out 218 guys when you're actually injured. And I'm not going to say anything about the Sox medical staff, because MVP will say bad things to me.
  15. Because STORK already knows he's a bum. STORK is a few steps ahead of the rest of us...
  16. The metrics say his overall fielding has been slightly above average in 2022. He still makes some bad plays, like all slightly above average fielders do. But he's not a butcher.
  17. Those graphs are kind of freaky.
  18. Merely responding to Old Red's statement that they "extended an injured player"...
  19. Agreed. The acquiring team might also ask for one of those fancy negotiating windows that are sometimes allowed.
  20. In 2019, he somehow struck out 218 guys while injured... (Yes, I know very well there were justifiable injury concerns.)
  21. I guess STORK was blathering about Winckowski.
