  1. That's pretty big news. Where did you hear this?
  2. A seasoned Red Sox fan doesn't think very many leads are safe until the game's over.
  3. Vazquez is on fire. There's one you couldn't see coming.
  4. You've mentioned this a few times. I looked at the last two times Barnes was used in extras, and in both cases he was the 5th reliever used in the game. I don't think those other options you're talking about were all that great.
  5. Yes, the pen tends to kick ass when we're behind. It is a little strange.
  6. I do it because: a) it's easier. before the Super Bowl era there were a much smaller number of teams. But I do agree that in reality the Packers have the most championships.
  7. I'm sure he didn't force him, but I imagine it's something the two discussed at length and agreed on.
  8. The way it looks, Chaim will be doing some serious disassembling soon.
  9. Not pinch-hitting with JD there is something Cora should be asked about, absolutely. I'm fairly sure he'd have an answer, but it's definitely one of those things that drives fans nutty.
  10. In his last 27 PA's he has 4 K's and 5 BB's! Cora has been talking about the team's effort at walking more and striking out less, and Dalbec may have gotten the message.
  11. Whitlock pitched a solid game last night and should have been the winner.
  12. No, I'd say it's evident they haven't given up on him. His K/BB ratio has improved some. There's always hope until there's none.
  13. 2 and 3 are strong possibilities. 1 and 4 are extremely doubtful.
  14. "Game" would have worked too.
  15. Maybe it's just a bad idea that will be nipped in the bud by the 2022 Red Sox.
  16. Not over yet.
  17. They're bad, but they're not that bad. Sox relievers had a 4.09 ERA going into today.
  18. I don't think it's the usage that's the problem. I think the problem is that it's a collection of mediocre pitchers and worse. This bullpen is all on Bloom, there's no way around it. He put it together, and it's bad.
  19. Good observation. Also, Cora used Davis to pitch the 9th in the last Chicago game with a 16-7 lead, presumably just to get some work in. Maybe it should have been Strahm in the Chicago game, and Davis last night. These are the kind of questions that should be asked of the manager. Edit: Strahm actually has the better WHIP and FIP. But your point stands that he was idle too long.
  20. Seems very possible that we have the worst bullpen in baseball.
  21. Cora can't DFA him. Cora will use the guys that he has. Obviously they've been hoping for a turnaround that hasn't happened.
  22. I'm just thinking I can probably find a west coast trip where they did okay. But you're right that they're usually a struggle.
  23. Are we talking about a wager?
  24. You're right, what I meant was our traditional pitch the 9th closer types.
