    You could be dead wrong about Bloom, too, though. If Bloom is so smart, why did he expose Ward instead of Ort?

    Yes, it's a huge issue, Jax. We have last place finishes in 5 of the last 11 years. And if the 2023 season started today we'd be a lock to make it 6 out of 12. That's what you call intolerable.

    That's commendable, seriously. If they sign an extension with Devers, mine might come back. But it's really going to be the last straw if they don't.

    Maybe so. But I think you have to draw the line somewhere on stretching contracts to reduce AAV.

    Henry booted Theo and Francona and DD, he'll have no problem booting Bloom.

    If Yoshida rakes, Red Sox fans will like him and will say Bloom got a good deal. It all comes down to what happens on the field.

    You're right, 2023 is clearly lining up to suck, so trading Devers now makes sense. Knowing this ownership they might do it on Christmas Eve.

    He can't do much about Henry and Werner's recent stretch of backward thinking, agreed. Anyone who had any doubts about whether the Sox effed up with Betts now has their answer as H and W doubled down with Bogey. Who knows what spectacular effup they have in store with Devers?

    It's time for Henry and Werner to go. Unfortunately, it might take a really miserable 2023 season to convince them to do it.

    I've tried to be optimistic about Bloom. But he came into this job with no experience as a GM, so he was a totally unproven quantity. And I don't think he realized what he was walking into. Now he's in a really bad position. If he stickhandles his way out of this mess, he'll go down as a hero. But I think the odds are against it.

    Henry doesn't talk to the press anymore, and if he did, he knows there's nothing he can say right now that will placate anyone, except "I'm selling".

    Yes, for about 15 minutes. It could come right back when the season starts and the team stinks.

    The Red Sox have been providing entertainment to the whole sports world about this. The funniest part is that their final offer was apparently outbid by about 5 other teams. Not even in the same zip code. And then we have the stunned Bloom at the airport. Just an amazing clown show.

    If the plan is to stay under the limit, the plan is to suck. Maybe that's the best plan anyway. Trade Devers, tank, build for 2025. Hopefully Henry and Werner sell the team.
