  1. Yes, but the goods have been flying off the shelves. Available talent is a finite commodity.
  2. Not really sure what you're saying.
  3. And it looks like he whiffed on a chance to get William Contreras for a relatively small cost in prospect talent. Chaim is moving in very mysterious ways. We are going to see some moves, I have little doubt about that. Whether we're going to like them, who knows.
  4. Steve Cohen has obviously decided to thumb his nose at the luxury tax and all the penalties. And when you've got as much money as he does, maybe it's the right way to go. Yes the taxes and penalties are onerous, but maybe you can outspend all that. The Sox meanwhile are trying to exercise restraint. What we all know is that if the Sox miss the playoffs again or worse, finish last in the division again, their strategy is going to be thrown into even more question than it is right now.
  5. Looks like that's exactly what they're doing. Yay.
  6. The scariest thing about our rotation/depth list as it stands? We have one pitcher - one - who pitched as many as 80 major league innings last year.
  7. More grasping at straws. Texas showed they've decided to spend big last offseason. The only unexpected thing about the Mets is that they're spending even more than expected.
  8. Bloom said he wanted to acquire a starter with "upside", "leadership" and "innings". What the hell was he talking about? Was he telegraphing that he was looking to make a trade? Or was it just another whopper?
  9. I'm not dissatisfied about that, but I'm dissatisfied we haven't acquired a single starting pitcher yet. I sincerely doubt we're in on Rodon, and the word is we're not in on Eovaldi. We seem to be down to Kluber or a trade now.
  10. The organization has the unmistakable odor of dysfunction about it.
  11. Either they were surprised by the market for Bogey and the prices, or they were lying. Based on their track record, it's pretty hard to give the benefit of the doubt any more.
  12. Either Bloom botched it, or Henry said "No, we're not paying those f**ing guys. Just keep lying, Chaim."
  13. Baltimore's going to outbid the Yankees for him?
  14. The Sox FO is probably more concerned about NESN viewership.
  15. Maybe because the Red Sox said he was their #1 priority, and people made the mistake of believing them.
  16. And we know we're not going anywhere near Rodon. He'll likely be in pinstripes.
  17. A lot of starting pitchers are already off the board. Waiting for the right deal might be a great strategy this offseason. Or it might really suck.
  18. Yes, and he has a great history of staying patient...
  19. Because injuries only happen last year, not next year LOL Sorry man, I'm just so pessimistic right now. I admire those staying optimistic.
  20. We also had many more talent losses, and were 21 games worse than them in 2022, so let's not get too rosy about it.
  21. Plenty.
  22. Bloom must have a trade for a starter in the works. It's the only thing that makes sense.
  23. Price's contract is now #22 on the list of biggest contracts.
  24. Nothing. But Bloom might be gone.
  25. The Red Sox are #3 in market value.
