  1. Pretty sure he didn't say no more moves.
  2. Our west moves were Mookie and Xander...
  3. The worst part is the Dodgers got him for a lower AAV (29 M) than our initial offer (30 M)...
  4. Once they let him get to free agency, they had no control of the situation.
  5. No, we've established him as part of the Early Lockup Gang.
  6. We're the Oakland Raiders of baseball.
  7. No, but the modus operandi with Bogey was identical to Lester - the pre-season insult, and the late effort that falls short.
  8. Well, it does look like you're going to see a lot of the kids this year and in the near future.
  9. Maybe you'll get your wishes this time around and they'll have no shot at a playoff spot so trading Devers at the deadline will be a no-brainer.
  10. It was Lester Redux, plain and simple.
  11. There are some weird comments there. Other teams are handing out deals in the hundreds of millions, and the Red Sox are the ones taking "huge risks" with Jansen and Turner? Not very logical.
  12. Agreed. But it's pure luck. Put it this way, the odds are that the team will not benefit from it, only the player.
  13. So now the Dodgers have 2 key members of the 2018 champion Red Sox. And the Red Sox have 2 key members of the 2020 champion Dodgers.
  14. The only reported offer to Bogey prior to reaching free agency was the $30 million bump. It's been reported extensively and never refuted, so I'm assuming it's accurate.
  15. And 2013 had the classic example of Shane Victorino, who exceeded expectations greatly for one year and helped win a World Series, and then was useless the last two years of his contract.
  16. I'm not comfortable with anything. But yeah, maybe after the 2023 season.
  17. Fans want it all. We won the WS in 2018 and fans bitched all through 2019, blaming Cora for the pitchers not being ready for the season etc. Fans never stay happy for long.
  18. Unfortunately I find it quite credible. We know that this team sets values and doesn't stray far from them.
  19. I think Bloom has a new narrative all set to go: If you're going to lock guys up, do it early or not at all. So as notin suggested earlier, we may see extension offers to Bello and Casas.
  20. The "galaxies apart" quote is not encouraging.
  21. Smyly is deleted (Cubs).
  22. I think what he's talking about is ownership's failure (to retain elite and popular players like Betts and Bogaerts).
  23. This is very different from the Story signing. Turner is 38, he DH'd a lot last year, and this contract only guarantees the Red Sox have him for one year.
  24. Agree about RF. Bloom did say he was getting a starting pitcher, so we'll see if he's a man of his word on that...
