  1. Bloom is just waiting around for the bargains!
  2. The kind caused by pebbles.
  3. All of our splashy moves are imaginary at this point.
  4. Grimly amusing, I must admit.
  5. Steve Cohen might.
  6. We're not even a starter.
  7. I'm guessing the Phillies don't reset. Their owner seems like a guy who wants to go for broke.
  8. The bottom line is the Beni trade and the Renfroe trade were interesting, but at this point unrewarding, and there are only marginal hopes for the prospects we got.
  9. It's incredible how much money there is in the game now, though. We don't even bat an eyelash when a guy signs a $300 million contract now.
  10. And there are teams with surprising wads of money out there. The Rangers followed up their $500 million spree last year with signing deGrom this year. The Phillies have also shelled out hefty sums two years in a row.
  11. Bloom hasn't proved a thing yet. Comparing him with these other guys is premature at best. As we keep saying, this is a big offseason for him. So far he continues to impress with his patience!
  12. True, but a lot of Yankee fans think he should be gone because they've only made it to the Series once since 2003.
  13. More interest. Sweet!
  14. It's quite possible they already figured Bogey was gone after 2022.
  15. In 14 games before going on the IL, not really a meaningful sample...
  16. DD likes the prime cuts. Now he has an owner who feels the same way.
  17. Looks like it's $43.33, which matches Scherzer for the highest.
  18. Do you remember DD's trades for Tyler Thornberg and Carson Smith when he was with us? Nobody's perfect.
  19. It may very well be a fair criticism. But since Graterol has a career fWAR of 1.6 and 2023 is his first arb year, we're talking about pretty small potatoes.
  20. Sure, but even there, no one knows if he could have done better. We know there wouldn't have been many teams willing to take one year of Mookie and paying him $27 mill. Bloom got Verdugo, Downs, Wong and $72 million in payroll relief.
  21. Dombrowski signed Sale when they couldn't sign Betts at the price they wanted. That makes 1000% more sense.
  22. Craig was apparently damaged goods, and I think we had to pay him $17 million or something like that. Taking Craig instead of a prospect made the trade a questionable one at best.
  23. Lackey never came out and said he wouldn't honor the injury clause year with the Red Sox, but he did say some fuzzy things when asked about it. https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2014/8/14/5993697/john-lackey-and-the-propriety-of-holding-out-retirement-lackey-clause "It's definitely something I’ll have to think about at the end of the season, whether I want to keep going, whether ‘€¦ ," Lackey trailed off. "There will be a lot of things to consider."
