  1. According to Fangraphs 13 mill should get you 1.8 WAR or something like that. But whatever...if he keeps pitching like this the rest of the way he'll have earned his money, and he'll be back next year for another ride.
  2. Yes, bWAR has him at one-tenth of a game above replacement.
  3. Kimbrel is the closer unless he really loses it.
  4. Yeah, this was one case where the announcers were being kind of silly questioning what was going on.
  5. He looked good. When Koji is on his game he is like an artist out there.
  6. Good answer, you belong in politics.
  7. As somebody said earlier, Clay is like the cat with 9 lives.
  8. Buch's 2010 peripherals indicate that his ERA benefitted from a fair amount of good luck. He had a good season but not quite that good.
  9. Some of this stuff is just random ******** luck. Last night we scored 5 runs, but we also would have won if we'd only scored 2 or 3, presumably.
  10. In 2012, just to mix things up, his good stretch was mid-season, from about mid-May to mid-August.
  11. I believe that for a lot of owners it's not just all about the money. The money is crucial but the biggest rush of all is holding that championship trophy. I think Henry is one of those owners. Otherwise he might have cashed out already in one of those periods when things have been sour.
  12. Clay is more Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde than any pitcher I've ever seen. Beckett was somewhat like that too but Clay is the champ.
  13. I don't know about brusing his ego, but 7 straight K's and 10 in his first 18 PA's quickly raises the question of whether he should be here.
  14. I think the 87 pitches had more to do with his irregular schedule - that was his first start in 2 weeks.
  15. That was Clay's first PA since June 18, 2015 and the 13th of his career. Can't really expect much.
  16. Crazy finish in the Yanks-Jays game. 7-6 Yanks.
  17. Very good comments. The only thing I would disagree on, mildly, is that I don't think the new baseball stats scare people so much as there are factors of mistrust, and a little fatigue as well, because we're constantly getting new information shoved at us. It took me a while to accept that the new defensive stats, while flawed, are well intended and pretty good stuff.
  18. Pythagoras needs to clean up his act over the last 25 games.
  19. If Wright is done for the year and Clay pitches well in his place we'll be thankful we have him. Big if, of course.
  20. The Yankees winning is the only thing that really sours things for me.
  21. He moved the runner to third at least. It's on the 2 guys who K'd.
  22. Pomeranz has been doing very well for a while now.
