  1. So you're classifying last night as Bad Clay?
  2. It's hard to say - Jones might just be saying that because blacks are in the minority in the sport of baseball their rights are easier to trample on. It's a whole other deal to say they're being kept out of baseball. That would immediately raise some fairly logical questions like 'well how come they're not kept out of football and basketball?' and 'well how come there are so many Latinos - they aren't white either.'
  3. One thing I'm quite sure of is that if the circumstances last night were reversed, and Farrell pulled our starter at 93 pitches with a depleted bullpen and we lost like that, the firestorm would still be going.
  4. From what I read, Pomeranz was receiving some type of treatment that the Padres failed to record or disclose it to the Sox. It appears to have been something relatively minor or else the Sox would have surely raised hell.
  5. I think you're right. And as I always point out, Francona took an extraordinary amount of abuse even with his admirable record.
  6. There will probably be a major auction for Encarnacion and the Yankees could well be one of the teams involved. He will be extremely expensive.
  7. You could be right.
  8. I disagree about Ellsbury. He's just a run-of-the-mill overpay for a team like the Yankees. At least he's playing and he's been half-decent.
  9. No, I won't be happy until you say it without the snark.
  10. And Betances was on fumes after throwing 36 pitches the 2 previous nights. Girardi blew this game, I have to agree.
  11. So where is the credit for Farrell's management of the bullpen last night? If we didn't keep the Yankees from tacking on more runs the comeback wouldn't have been possible.
  12. @ southpaw777 (copied from Benintendi thread) Farrell needs to realize that some guys can actually hit the same side pitcher. Benni has looked good vs LHP. Overall better than JBJ I think..the smart move would have been to PH Young for JBJ vs Layne making Girardi swith pitchers one batter earlier. lets face it, Aaron f***ing Hill strikes fear in exactly zero pitchers, LH or RH, which is why bLayne was left in to face Hill. Young would have forced Girardi to switch. then Benni is up so he would have to go to a lesser LHP since they already used their main LH guy Layne...I just dont understand why Farrell doesnt see this. Girardi schooled his ass last night...Farrell got lucky Young was barely HBP and Betences was off his game because those first two PH moves by Farrell were absolutely ass backwards! the guy is clueless how to manage a game. Well, it's possible that Farrell expected Girardi to leave Layne in to face Hill and that's what he wanted. Plus Young has been hitting very well against RHP for a while now. I see your points but there are some counterpoints too. The bottom line was he sent up 2 PHers and 1 of them reached base.
  13. Yes indeed. I guess Dombrowski and Sox management deserve some credit for thinking Hanley might do OK at first base this year.
  14. Finally the Yankees are paying a price for trading off Miller and Chapman. Girardi might kill Betances in the process.
  15. I just want to make the playoffs. Once you do that the AL is pretty much up for grabs, I think. There aren't any really scary teams in the AL. There are good ones, though.
  16. If Bogey doesn't pick it up soon I could see them moving him down and moving JBJ up.
  17. Unfortunately for Williams, he also didn't do very much in the 3 other most critical games of his Red Sox career in 1948 and 1949.
  18. And we're the highest scoring team in baseball! It's a funny game...
  19. I think even Ted Williams might have had the occasional brief slump.
  20. It is kind of a crazy and frustrating pattern.
  21. Oh, they'll still tell you we should have waited, and extended him for less after his value went down.
  22. That was 4 out of 5 games Gausman hasn't been scored on. He is doing something right.
  23. That's 4 out of 5 games Gausman hasn't been scored on.
  24. Not sure it's a safe assumption we don't have a DH only DH again next year (such as Hanley).
