  1. Even with his struggles, the lowest Bogaerts' BA got down to was .310.
  2. Except those two are supposed to be late inning relievers. We just don't have any late inning relievers who haven't taken their lumps lately.
  3. He certainly had a lot to do with me becoming a Sox fan.
  4. I think folks are making a bit too much out of Barnes giving up 2 in the 9th. In that situation the cardinal rule is to throw strikes. And Longoria hits home runs against us in his sleep.
  5. Your sarcasm is truly at an advanced level.
  6. Yeah, I think it's just a little rough patch. I haven't been pulling my weight lately, but I feel like I'm ready to come out of it.
  7. Just in from the stats guys: over the last 7 days, 36.7% of Talksox posts have been sarcastic.
  8. Hill wouldn't even get the start if they didn't think he could hit lefties though. It's a good spot to let him swing away and maybe get him going. IMO
  9. Don't take anything for granted against these dirtbags. Score early and take it to them.
  10. JBJ sits tonight for Young, Beni to CF.
  11. The question is who is Young going to take AB's from, especially since we're getting late in the game and all the guys he might take AB's from are going well.
  12. Gulf Coast League Red Sox.
  13. Eckersley and Remy I would agree with. Merloni acts more like a regular old hot-headed fan IMO.
  14. Yep, or maybe you're up for some more luck of the Irish with O'Sullivan.
  15. The simple fact is that if Young is going to hit against all lefties, some of those appearances will come at Benitendi's expense. The only other options are JBJ, Papi or Betts, and who wants any of them out of the lineup?
  16. I think Matsuzaka also suffered some damage in the second World Baseball Classic he pitched in...his injury troubles really began after that.
  17. Groome is pitching today.
  18. Our 18-Sep game against the Yanks also starts at 3:33AM. Kind of an interesting innovation I think. (B-R does have some amusing glitches sometimes.)
  19. Yes and no. The 13 games with those teams are very important, but the other 26 are too. Going 7-6 against Baltimore and Toronto and playing .700 ball (or whatever it takes) in the other games is a perfectly acceptable way to get there.
  20. Winning 3 of 4 in Tampa would be excellent. It certainly can't be taken for granted.
  21. I agree, 23 is still young.
  22. I think the Hill in question was Rich Hill.
  23. Owens is just the latest chapter in the Sox long-running failure at drafting and developing good pitchers. Hopefully Kopech and Groome can reverse the trend a little.
  24. You do realize he only threw 51 pitches in 5 innings last night?
