    Saturday the Jays starter was a lefty...Hill and Young usually started against lefties...you're right, the facts are there.

    Nonsense. That last series against the Jays, it was regular lineups. They lost 2 out of 3, all close games, to a playoff team. There's no indication they weren't trying to win those games.

    So maybe Francona had a bad year in 2011 - I can concede that. It doesn't alter the fact that his overall record since 2004 is fantastic.

    I think what *may have* happened is that the team 'peaked too soon', as it's sometimes put. It was kind of natural for them to have a letdown after the 11 game winning streak that sewed up the division. Maybe they went a little flat emotionally. Who really knows? A lot of this stuff just can't be measured - the 'human element'.

    Fun Fact: Yesterday's games featured starts by Price, Kershaw, Scherzer, Lester and Cueto. Total price tag: 927 million dollars.

    I thought the checked-swing punchout that started the 9th inning for the Giants was a bad call. The hitter didn't let the bat get parallel with his arms.

    A 3 run jack by Papi in the 1st inning on Sunday might be just the ticket.

    It ain't over, but it's absolutely imperative that we score some runs early in Game 3.

    Letting Lester go the way they did is the biggest mistake this front office has made with regard to on-field talent.

    The fact that they lost 5 of their last 6 regular season games doesn't mean much, when you consider that those games came after an 11 game winning streak that secured the division for them. They're in a lousy position right now, that's for sure. But if, and it's a big if, they can win Game 3, everything will be possible again.

    If it's any consolation, the Sox do have 3 postseason wins against 2 losses in games started by Buchholz. Oddly enough he didn't get the decision in any of his 5 starts.

    If it's Trout 1 and Betts 2 I'm fine with it. For a kid like Betts, finishing second in MVP to Trout is a pretty large accomplishment.

    I literally could not watch the end of that Game 5 in Oakland in 2003...I was a wreck.

    Yeah, it was the kind of 'opportunistic' transaction that doesn't happen too often, thankfully.

    Yeah, you're right. Let's remember Pedro and Troy O'Leary breaking Cleveland's heart in 1999. Let's remember Beckett and Drew and Youk and Pedey doing the same in 2007.
