  1. McAdam also reports they're considering a trade for Arenado. All well and good, but they also have to figure out to do with Casas and Yoshida. This would be potentially pretty expensive in one way or another. Personally, at the moment I'd rather they focus on Soto and pitching.
  2. Sox fans mock Jeter for dramatizing on that play. Yankee fans mock Schilling for putting fake blood on his sock.
  3. In spite of his obvious talent, I don't think ARod is the ideal comp for most Sox fans when they're thinking about Soto.
  4. Alex Rodriguez? The Yanks only won one World Series with him and he was generally regarded as a disappointment or worse by Yankee fans. And Red Sox fans have always been pretty happy that trade didn't go through.
  5. Can never have enough arms.
  6. Papi on board can't hurt. I guess it all comes down to where Mr. Soto truly wants to spend the majority of his career.
  7. Personally I think if they succeed in signing Soto, it can't be anything but a good sign about where Henry's head is at.
  8. I have a feeling Henry and Kennedy and all of them know fans' patience is exhausted now. Kennedy might be a bozo, but Henry is still a pretty smart guy, I believe.
  9. Yeah, just get Minny to pay a few million of it and it would be a good deal. Houck and Whitlock have great numbers throwing to Vazquez.
  10. No, sometimes injuries take you out of the Hall.
  11. No, I don't see him as a fit based on the cost, the "moving parts" it would entail and our other needs.
  12. The time frame of the opt-out(s) is pretty important here, no? Guaranteeing a guy 13 years and 600 million and giving him an opt-out after 1-3 years? I don't think any team would agree to that...well, except maybe the Jays because they really have no other good cards to play.
  13. OK, my wild ass guess, which I expect is also a fairly common one, is they go about 20 mill over the first tax threshold.
  14. Boras and his clients seemed to get burnt to a crisp by his waiting tactics last offseason. Of course none of them were Juan Soto. It looks to me like Soto and his team are getting down to business very methodically here, and I think he'll sign by Christmas. I think they understand that everyone is waiting on them and that there are certain obligations to the game itself.
  15. The "we're back!" vibe has improved my mood for the time being, but we shall see what we shall see.
  16. Yeah, we'll have to wait and see (says Cap'n Obvious), but it'll be interesting to see if the winning contract for Soto has much in the way of bells and whistles. Cole's contract had just the one opt-out after 5 years I believe.
  17. How does this relate to Snell?
  18. Maddie is probably going to be a little surprised next time she checks the status of her article/thread. 😁
  19. If we didn't win the Series in '18 with Price contributing, I too would deem it a disaster. But we did.
  20. Blake the Snake, man. Of course I'd love to have him. But only on the "right deal". (LOL LOL)
  21. I'm actually feeling optimistic now, because why not? It makes no difference how I feel anyway.
  22. They should only trade from the places we have a legit surplus. Which we do have in the outfield and middle infield.
