The fact is we have Devers, Story, Mayer, Campbell, Grissom and Casas for 4 infield spots, not even counting Hamilton or Romy.
Forking out for Bregman is extemely unlikely, IMHO.
Alex is clearly not such a hot commodity. He might be this year's Bellinger/Chapman, another Boras client coming in expecting too much and ending up hung out to dry.
Makes some sense baseball-wise, but is it enough to justify a $25 million AAV addition to the payroll for the next 6 years? Especially when the player's fit and value are both just a bit iffy.
Sure, you want me to waste my time looking up pre-season win projections for the last 3 years. I don't have to. I'm fully confident that the consensus projections for the Sox the last 3 years were somewhere in the 80-85 win range. I'm here all the time and I know we talked about the projections.
Furthermore, at the end of each of the last 3 seasons hardly anyone said the Sox underachieved significantly and hardly anyone called for Cora's head. He got an extension in fact.
If you insist on a look-up, I'll do it if I get time.
Sox could afford to sign 2 more quality relievers. That would make the pitching potentially solid.
But the fact they already signed J. Wilson probably makes 2 additions unlikely. Can we have 1 at least?
Yes, I know, Kyle Finnegan. I'd take him too when it comes down to it. Hell, I might take Kenley or Chris back.
But who would be fabricating, and if there is fabricating, why wouldn't the Sox get it out there that it was inaccurate? If they're not really the Interest Kings, why are they letting the Interest Kings image run wild like this?
