  1. Other than Moustakas, what big bargains are you talking about?
  2. I'm not really sure what you're saying. It's common for teams to wait until the July deadline to assess where they are and what their 'final needs' are. I'm suggesting that the Sox might be prepared to go a little over the limit and incur the penalties. You seem to be asking why didn't they go way over the limit already, like in the offseason, if they're prepared to go over by a little now.
  3. He's a pretty solid bat, especially against lefties. I thought he was a good pickup.
  4. Well, I have to admit, I'd prefer they didn't get De Grom.
  5. No way he's a Sox fan.
  6. Time to fess up STORK. Who is your team?
  7. Kimmi means he overpaid in the prospects he gave up for Kimbrel.
  8. I would assume that it was never Plan A to go over the 237 mill, more of a last resort. Now that it's July and we're in the position we're in it seems worthwhile to do it.
  9. Well, of course, just because he said he was willing to go over the 237 million doesn't mean he's willing to go over it by a lot...
  10. Why should he be in a big hurry about it? It's July 4.
  11. It's a different type of pressure though. The definition of pressure you are using here is completely different from the pressure of playing in a critical game at the major league level with millions of people watching, with all the expectations of fans and media and all the negative fallout that can arise from failure in such a game.
  12. It seems fitting that a guy with the name of Fedde would be in Washington.
  13. Nobody is forced to use that single number, though. OPS is just a simplistic attempt to measure the total value of on-base skills plus power. It might be flawed and overused, but it's a big improvement on the old days when all you knew was batting average, HR and RBI.
  14. It's attempting to address a problem that you cited.
  15. Let's just assume his contract doesn't say anything about it. You're still left with the fact that he is helping the competition.
  16. What makes you think WAR doesn't do as good a job of this as possible?
  17. Nice! Very creative.
  18. Maybe the thinking on Nunez is to see if he can get it going real soon or if they have to DFA him.
  19. I think there is definitely a fine line between what some people call choke and what others call 'negative mental factors' or some such thing.
  20. Now that I would call a Yankee fluff piece.
  21. Mainly because I can't just let his nonsense stand. Partially just for kicks.
  22. I don't throw the term around lightly at all. Just check his posting history.
  23. Porcello's HR rate is fine. He's on the same HR pace as in 2016, his Cy Young season, and much better than last year. You're grasping at straws. But that's what trolls do.
  24. Price had a great stretch until Sunday night. moon is right, you are reacting to one or two-game samples.
