  1. OTOH Batting 3rd 359/424/648 1072 Batting 4th 303/370/635 1005
  2. That first inning AB was a classic. And you're right, he hustles. He does everything the way you're supposed to.
  3. That was a phenomenal catch last night. One of the key things that a great fielder can do that sometimes gets overlooked is to be able to make a catch like that without getting injured. I love the way JBJ flicked the glove back toward himself as soon as the ball was in it.
  4. Generally annoying as hell, but pretty sweet when it blows up in Yankee fans' faces!
  5. Yeah he really looked hapless.
  6. Something tells me that the Trop would be a hard place to hit because of the optics as well. It looks like it would be like playing in a giant Wal-Mart or something.
  7. The legend of JDM only grew last night. One fantastic at-bat after another. And now we hear Cora saying that he is the team leader.
  8. I think the only way Castillo has a future in Boston is if they trade JBJ this offseason. Which might make sense, although it could be painful.
  9. I think Dombrowski would feel much more kindly disposed toward Castillo if it wasn't for the tax implications.
  10. Right. It can't possibly have anything to do with some parks being more conducive to hitting than others.
  11. Well, my snarky friend, how about their pitching SPLITS? Home ERA 2.84 Road ERA 4.38
  12. Verducci also did a nice job talking about how Benintendi has become such a good base stealer.
  13. Hey STORK, do you remember this post you made on April 14? It's in the 2018 Bullpen thread if you want to go look it up. Hembree 8IP 8H 5ER Reed 8IP 1ER 9K Priceless So since you made that post here are some numbers: Reed IP 30 ERA 5.10 OPS against .911 Hembree IP 27 ERA 3.00 OPS against .666 Contracts are also worth mentioning: Reed 2 years 16.75 million Hembree 1 year 582 K Now who are the stooges and who is the idiot?
  14. In this home stand against NYY, HOU & WSH, the Rays have allowed 12 runs in 8 games, and 6 of those were in one game. In their last 10 at the Trop they've allowed 13 runs.
  15. Incredible isn't it. I'm glad we've played most of our games with them. I'm a little suspicious that they've done something to the air in the TropDome that makes it impossible for other teams to hit there.
  16. Beni couldn't keep up the incredible streak he was on. All hitters have ups and downs during the long season. But don't judge him based on most recent results. He's hitting 285/369/508 - 877 OPS - with 13 HR and 53 RBI in 80 games. He also has 15 steals in 16 attempts and his defense has been great lately.
  17. What's his OPS since Jacks started this thread?
  18. That's about 80% true. He hasn't traded Benintendi or Devers. He has a select few that he hangs onto.
  19. He pitched like a solid #2 in 2016 - 17 wins, 3.99 ERA, 230 innings. He's pitching like a solid #2 this year. He's been a disappointment, but not exactly a bust. The great Theo signed Yu Darvish to a 6 year, 126 million deal this offseason. Darvish has 1 win, a 4.95 ERA and is currently on the DL. These deals are always risky, especially with pitchers.
  20. There's still the possibility of Pomeranz coming back too. In any event I'm sure DD will do what's best. You can see with the pickups of Phillips and Pearce he's looking to do what's necessary to plug holes.
  21. And when your farm system produces a potential HOFer like Mookie, you let him walk when he reaches free agency? That would kind of make us like the Montreal Expos of the 1990's. I'm partially kidding there, but it is a real question.
  22. So 9 years, including the 2 remaining arb years, at 31 million = 279 million.
