    It's a fact that the 2 bullpens are very close statistically. Britton might change that a bit, we'll see. But Green and Holder have been struggling, Warren is gone, Kahnle is injured, and DRob is not what he once was.

    The economic landscape is changing a bit too. It looks like the cheap young talent ain't gonna stay cheap quite as long, when you see Mookie making $10.5 million in his 4th year and 2 more arb years to go with substantial raises.

    Pomeranz may be working his way back to health. It's been known to happen.

    Cora actually said Jackie made a base running mistake but then made a great slide. He gave credit but did not gloss over the mistake.

    As I said, Johnson's ERA was 5.33 at the end of May. What did you think of him then?

    Yes, it's quite a lesson in how stuff can be spun. Johnson was gritty, giving up 5 runs in 5. Pomeranz was lucky, giving up 2 runs in 5.

    The Yankee bullpen is a tad overrated. Of course it doesn't help them that their starters are not going deep and piling the innings on the pen.

    The most remarkable thing about last night's game was that Mookie was 6 for 6 in getting on base, and it was barely mentioned.

    I agree, don't let up. Stomp on them while they're down and don't let them back up.

    Pomeranz's ERA actually did get better his last start. He's only pitched 46.2 innings. At the end of May, Brian Johnson's ERA was 5.33 and he was looking a little toasty himself. But the team stuck with him and it has paid off. The bottom line is, the team always has more patience and more informed decision-making than the fans. I trust them to do the right thing.

    I hear you on that. I think Johnson is much more likable than Pom and that affects the perception.

    Kinsler actually has borderline HOF numbers in terms of WAR. He showed why last night. He hits the ball all over the place, he's got some pop, and his defense is stellar. That second big play he made last night was unreal.

    Cashman has made some great moves, and he's also made some very questionable ones IMO. You wonder sometimes if he gets a little too clever for his own good.
