  1. But you guys were still down 8-0. So I guess you could say you guys started the season off s***ing the bed. Not to mention that wasn't even the point, which was that according to you, the Yankees' World Championships, all 26 of them, have an impact on how they've been playing in the playoffs as of late. It doesn't. They've failed in the playoffs as of late. For god's sake they've been beaten by the Marlins, blown a 3-0 lead, and have been winless their past few times in. That's failure. We're talking recent history, not ancient history. The Babe and The Iron Horse and The Clipper and The Mick are all gone man!
  2. Angels dominated the season series against us last season. Where'd they end up? Just sayin'
  3. Welcome to the forum, cool to see how there's lots of people representing outside of the New England area. I am from Minnesota, btw
  4. Exactly this, and what Spudboy said. However, the Yankees have been spending money, and not winning, that's what makes them so much of a joke, it's when they lose. Also, I think it's just a lot less impressive when the Yankees win it, partially because of the fact that they've always had the highest payroll, and they have bought championships for years.
  5. Because they won all 26 of those championships as of late
  6. Mhm, he has been better over the course of the year. That's why it's important to look at statistics
  7. You said that, and it still doesn't make any sense. Hardy is having a bad year and he's still better than Gonzo is. He's barely lower in OBP, and he has much more pop, and he's better defensively, which is what Gonzo is good at. He's nothing more than a hole-filler right now, and he's usually a black hole in the line up. Yes he's hitting at his best right now, but even his best isn't as good as Hardy's worst. Point 1: Hardy is still having a better overall offensive season than Gonzo is, even if it is a down year. Point 2: You just basically admitted that you're not researching statistics, and just going by what you're seeing by watching games. So basically it's either from what you've heard or what you've seen. That's why you said "He's hitting about .280" etc etc. Just do some research, for one, and also, stop using batting average as an argument. It's not a good statistic, and we've been over this about 90 times in this argument He's having a bad year, yeah, but you even admitted "you heard" that he was having a bad year. That bad year is still better than this amazing performance that you seem to be thinking Gonzo is having this year. It's still worth the risk, considering that it's probably just a flaw in his mechanics, which can be fixed most likely. If not, it's probably not going to cost much to get him, he'll come cheap due to his down year, and that's why we should act on this Yes, he really is
  8. Pedro in 04 was one of the most ridiculous things a manager could possibly make. The only way to do something so stupid is to deliberately try to lose. Not saying he was, he wasn't, but honestly? How can you do something like that? He does this all the time, but it just stands out more in the playoffs. If he was in the NL, he'd have a hard time defending his decisions, because it's even more crucial in that league. I think I was a little over-the-top when I said "joke" manager. But I think he is IMMENSELY overrated
  9. Word, cats are probably the only things that I really dislike with all of my being.
  10. I think Ron Gardenhire beats Tito, call me a homer all you want, but he's taken teams that were projected to do nothing, and gone far with them. Mike Socia is another one who I'd take eight days a week over Tito. None of the others really stand out, but I just can't stand his in-game management, it's terrible, he does some of the most idiotic things that make you want to go kick a cat
  11. It's not flicking a switch, it's kicking it into high-gear. The greatest athletes do this. Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time, and one of the greatest athletes (arguably THE greatest of all time) and we all know the MVPs, that he averaged 30 points throughout his career. You look at his stellar regular season numbers, and you look at his Playoff numbers, and tell me that his playoff numbers aren't better. They are, despite playing against elite teams every day, his numbers are better than his regular season career stats. The great ones can switch to a higher level when it's time, it's what separates them from the others. Josh Beckett is a clutch pitcher, he's proven that. He'll have a good regular season, but come postseason, he almost becomes unbeatable, he's done this with the Marlins and the Red Sox, and the one time he didn't do it he was battling an injury. With this being said, I honestly don't think it matters. Beckett's going to give you a great outing in the playoffs, Lester is going to as well, Lester has been more consistent, but Beckett has bad more playoff experience. It's a coin flip, and I think there's no wrong choice here
  12. He makes some of the worst in-game decisions you could possibly make, and it's infuriating sometimes. I think the manager position may be overrated, but when you're as terrible as Tito is at making in-game decisions, you can still bring your team down. If he was in the NL, where it definitely is a tenfold more important, he'd never have this success
  13. Lol, I hope you're kidding, I really do. Terry Francona is a joke manager, and with the talent he has, I honest to god think anyone could win a World Series or two
  14. What are you getting at exactly? He's had a couple "off" seasons his entire career, he's been to the postseason three different times, and just keep it simple, he has a career 2.90 ERA in the postseason. Don't have to overanalyze what he does in which year because of what factors
  15. That's no good! I have no idea what on earth this pre-21 drinking is you speak of. No seriously, most people just disregard the drinking age here, so it's almost like we don't have it, we just have to be more cautious
  16. Who says you have to be comfortable
  17. You're missing the most important part, WHILE WATCHING THE RED SOX
  18. Sex at Fenway, watching the Red Sox while breathing (heavily). Now THAT sounds like heaven to me
  19. Yeah I'd put someone with Delcarmen, and I'd guess that the Brewers would accept that. It's way different than if we'd asked last season, when he was in top form. The asking price is down significantly from this year, so I think we can give up a prospect and Delcarmen and pull this off
  20. Well he has pop too, and had a career high of .343 last season
  21. .323 Career as of now
  22. True story
