I cant tell if you all simply dont understand what Im saying or if you are just teasing me because Im new here. He began playing baseball in 1998 in Single A. Over his 12 years career, he only played about 77 games in the majors. He got caught using steroids in 2005 while in the minors. Fast forward to 2010 and he is playing alike an all star in the big leagues. All Im saying is that we shouldnt anoint him a "hero" or a savior of any sort. He dabbled with steroids in the past. Theres the possibility that he is dabbling with it again.

so this wasnt posted to "start trouble" or get people mad. Yes, steroids in baseball is a sensitive subject, but its something I think is worth discussing.

First and foremost, I am a die hard Red Sox fan. I posted this because I was devastated when we found out about Papi and Manny and I simply dont want to be duped again. In McDonalds first game with the Sox, he got the game tying and winning hits. He was the hero. Last night, he was responsible for the ONLY two Red Sox runs (he scored one and drove in the other). It seems like he is poised to be something special for this team. BUT when a 31 year old who has spent most of his career in the minors suddenly starts playing like an all-star (and has tested positive in the past) you cant help but wonder if he is back on....maybe as a last ditch effort to salvage a sorry career.

I could write a 5,000 word reply to that. But Ill spare you and me because my blood pressure will go through the roof and you wont read 5,000 words.

Ok, lets keep things stimulating....which name is harder to pronounce (out loud, not in your head) Seth Schwindenhammer, Jason Isringhausen or Ben Roethlisberger.

On the soxprospects website, they list the pronunciation as ----- Looks like they gave up. haha

Jarrod Saltalamacchia holds the record for longest name in MLB history but if Red Sox prospect Seth Schwindenhammer ever makes it to the big leagues he would take the cake. And his jersey would make Yastrzemski and Garciaparra jerseys look like a Jason Bay jersey. haha

I definitely agree. He has been stellar. But he has had some bad starts.

Thats like saying "if you take away 2004 and 2007 the Red Sox are a joke of an organization." It just doesnt make sense. If you are going to arbitrarily take away his two worst starts, then you must take away his two best starts. That would give us a better indication of what he REALLY is.

I used to get the Globe delivered back in the 90s but canceled around 1998. I picked up a copy a few weeks ago and was stunned by how badly their sports section has gone down hill. Their sports page was about 4 pages long and boring and dry as all hell. The Heralds sports section blows them away. And Ive actually checked out the ESPNBoston site and I must say, its pretty good. Better NESNs site (which is where I used to go).

T-Nez I assume is short for Martinez? Anyway, last year when the Sox signed Varitek, we all knew the end was near. Im just glad its going to end in a relatively respectful way...with Varitek taking a backup roll (for the playoffs and next season) as opposed to him leaving and signing on with a s***** team to be their starting catcher (see Carlton Fisk). The Fisk situation was sad. Anyway, Im sure Varitek will retire as a Red Sox.

Eck is incredibly tacky but knowledgeable. Casey is just a blabber mouth. If I had to sit next to one of them at a game, Id sit next to Eck. Casey would put me to sleep.
