    8/1/23: Verlander - Mets will pay 35M of remaining 58M post trade and 17.5M if his '25 option vests. Scherzer - Mets will pay 35M of remaining 57.5M (he took the '24 player option).

    Keller is worse than internal options like Houck, Crawford and Pivetta. I think using one of them to fill in for Paxton is better than also signing Keller, who sucks.

    It probably would have been: Sox take Myers' contract, Pads take Price's contract. Myers: 13.8 AAV through '22 Price: 31 AAV through '23 If that's the case, the Padres would have assumed MORE $$$ than the Dodgers did.

    Yup, should have traded Sale, but that was unlikely to happen. Hard to trade Sale AND Price or Nate AND Price. More likely it'd be JD AND Price or it would still have been seen as a big tank job.
