  1. His offense sucked in '23. No way to sugar coat it.
  2. He apparently didn't even have a good translator this year! Bad translator, longer season, no family... No wonder he slumped at the end of the year.
  3. That was JH's assumption for sure. Many of us said that he should have been given a shot to clean up the mess.
  4. He also mentioned that he wanted to give results that Red Sox fans could be proud of and that he realized that he relies on the support structure of his family for success (they were gone for a portion of the season).
  5. Breslow, Levine and Romero seem to be the 3 best fits right now. Not sure how to order them.
  6. BOH is EVP of Baseball Ops. Hard to say what that job really entails. Seems to be outside the scope of GM'ing at this point. They have 13 EVP's right now. A promotion would put Eddie above BOH on the org chart but maybe not his boss? Also, Paul Toboni interviewed for a position and that would also be a big jump in title. I wonder if the Sox are surprised that BOH stayed on?
  7. Players love him. That seems important.
  8. I think deep down you know this not to be true.
  9. I'm sure they're already working on the PR that they were just doing due dilligence. Again, I'm pro Eddie and think he's a better fit than some of these others shlubs.
  10. If this was the case, they would have rejected the interview outright like Gomes and others. The after the fact rejections leads to a different conclusion IMO.
  11. No, it's not having the autonomy to being able to pick out the FO guys that they will work with on a day to day basis. The operation is already there. JH is already determined to keep everyone. I think any GM would be fine with having Cora for manager in 2024, it's the BOH/Grimma Wormtongue/Eddie/Raquel crew that has no movement and potentially is untouchable (with emphasis on the first two).
  12. I'm throwing the 2023 baby out with the bathwater. I think the 2024 baby should be better.
  13. The CBT increased by 2M in 2020. To get under the CBT would be 5-6% from the previous budget.
  14. I think these candidates are turning down the job because they won't be given the space to make organizational changes to make the job their own. More and more, it just feels like this will come down to an internal candidate like Eddie Romero Jr. I'd rather him than some of the names thrown around anyway.
  15. We got a doubting Thomas over here!
  16. Kim Ng has a family. She ain't coming here.
  17. 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023...
  18. Within the past two hours. Is that JUST enough for you?
  19. "Oh hey, you can't be #1 in payroll going forward, but you can spend up to the CBT so work with 5% less." "Guess we'll have to be a 78 win team now... "
  20. Red Sox are going to lose out due to family considerations.
  21. UPDATE: @tylermilliken_ According to @alexspeier, James Click talked with the Red Sox but decided to withdraw his name from the search due to family considerations.
  22. Bing generated AI image of Tek mashing Bloom with the glove instead of ARod.JPEG
  23. How about a Greinke, Longoria, Ryu, Brantley and Carrasco offseason to scratch the Antiques Roadshow itch?
  24. They must have done it because of a mandate from ownership not to spend!!!
  25. He was rubbing the blood off his hands!
