@tylermilliken_ Some interesting insight from @Sean_McAdam on yesterday’s Craig Breslow reports: “A report in The Athletic Tuesday had Breslow “in advanced discussions” with the Sox, “interviewing for their No. 1 job in baseball operations,” but that may be premature, according to an industry source.” He floats the idea of Breslow possibly being GM, with a more experienced option taking over the POBO role. Also, that another external candidate has been interviewed that has not been revealed yet. Breslow as GM, someone else as CBO and Eddie stays as Assistant GM? Why not just give Eddie the promotion and find the CBO? I don't get it.

I don't think that really matters. Chaim Bloom is most likely smarter than DD, but DD is a better GM.

The only issue with Breslow is that he worked remotely. He wasn't actually working along side the Cubs FO on a day to day basis the way he would need to here.

Kim Ng hasn't been mentioned as receiving or declining an interview.

The issue isn't the losing or the 4 year firings. I think the issue is that there isn't any room for turnover in the FO as I noted earlier. When you take this job, you're stuck with the people already employed. This is JH's vision of a FO, not the the next CBO's. That's why Click and others will either drop out or not interview. Keeping BOH around was a bad idea.

Dansby Swanson had a 104 OPS+, but ended the season with 4.9 fWAR this year. Yeah, I'd take that...

I'm not specifically calling you out, but there are several posters on here who group other posters into the Bloom Squad or Kimmi's Gang or whatever. Then when you ask who's part of it, you never get a response. I will quote tweet those posters and they never ever respond. I never made a post complaining about Bloom Bashers. To me, it's the same thing as complaining about Pink Hats. We're all here because we want the Red Sox to win (maybe too obsessively). I don't think there was anyone who was so down on Bloom that would have trashed him if he actually made a slam dunk great move. For a long time, A700 HATED Theo and called him every name in the book. Did that mean he wrote him off, didn't want him to succeed and would never be excited about him? No! He even changed his avatar to "Super Theo" after the AGon/Crawford moves. I believe the half of the board that didn't like Bloom would have changed their minds if he just did moves that they liked, so why group people into some negative subgroupings that are relatively meaningless?

Nah. Miss me with that. He would have been worth well more than his contract if he stayed healthy in 2022. Even only playing less than 2/3's of the season, he still only under performed the contract by 4M.

If he keeps his current defense and has a 100 wRC+ like in 2022, he'll be worth the contract. Just be 2022 Story, but stay healthy.
