  1. Did they fall apart due to a lack of reinforcements at the deadline?
  2. Duran is a better CFer than Abreu, I think. Duran made a big jump last offseason defensively. Maybe he makes another one this year? IDK. I hope there are less innings for Masa, but I'm not going to count on it.
  3. Who is asking them to become stars? Even if they become everyday regulars, it'd be a big help. John Valentin was a great ballplayer. If Mayer/Yorke are just John Valentins, I'm fine with it. Nobody in BOS thought he was a star.
  4. Oh man, Ben Cherington left in 2015 after winning a WS! May want to rethink going through with this interview for a position I've been working towards for years and years and years. May as well wait another few years for my opportunity to come around!
  5. I think it's just used in place of: Hey, I got a great trade idea: Yorke, Duran, Drohan and Mata for Nootbar and Edman. It's just a better way of valuing players and their contracts/years of control in lieu of having none.
  6. That's how affable Casas is. You can be pissed off at him, but turn that opinion around on a dime because of how good natured he is.
  7. Oh no! DD must have left the organization in a great spot! Good farm system? No bad long term contracts?
  8. They were 69-65 going into September. I think what they did in September isn't going to translate to next season. They just completely turtled and fell apart once they realized they weren't making the playoffs. This was a team that was slightly above .500 all year long. Ending on a 9-19 stretch skews the negatives too high.
  9. Rafaela getting that much time in CF. I think he sees a lot of time at 2B/SS in 2024. It's not ideal, but Cora hinted at it. Eventually, he should be the fulltime CF, but they will still use him to fill in MIF until the younger guys show up later in '24 and '25.
  10. He's a fine SS, but long term he's going to be pushed to 2B. He was better there in 2022. It was like having Pedey back there, injuries and all!
  11. Unless the mods move or delete it, it will stay forever... Forever... For....ever...
  12. The majority of posters on here jump at the chance to pat themselves on the back. I don't know what kind of point system they think is being handed out.
  13. Why would Miami be a better job? Please provide a few baseball reasons (not weather, food, etc).
  14. And now the GM is leaving of her own accord, because she doesn't want to work with ownership anymore because they have too much say. This goes back to the Jeter days where he left for similar reasons. There are non-baseball people making baseball decisions there. At least Henry attempts to hire baseball people and then lets them hang themselves after 4 years and a few losing seasons. There's no way Henry would have let Ng walk out that door without an extension after getting into the playoffs. It's really embarrassing for Marlins fans right now. They aren't happy.
  15. He could have been a great hire. The reasoning behind the hire was solid. The issue was that sometimes you don't know how well a person will perform in a new job until they actually are there. Chaim had the pedigree, but just couldn't do what needed to be done in Boston. Nothing against him, but he's not a fit in Boston. I don't think you could really learn that 100% until he's actually in the job.
  16. Ng left Miami after only 3 years.
  17. It still is. I believe you haven't paid much attention to what is going on in Miami and how horrible of a working situation that would be. Boston isn't the greatest situation in the world, but it's a high profile job where you'd be paid more and would have better access to $$$ and a farm to deal from.
  18. Sox would have needed to have a GM/CBO that wanted to do trades in the first place.
  19. Woodruff's career is most likely over.
  20. He averaged about 2 innings per game in the field. Guess that's a lot of time on the bench.
  21. He'll be the Opening Day SS, but he shouldn't be.
  22. I'm not anyone.
  23. Interesting! I've been trying to get time on your calendar for months, but she wouldn't let me in! Unless...
