  1. From Speier: Sources: Red Sox offered Craig Breslow job as head of baseball operations
  2. Giants hired Melving. Tek stays in BOS for now.
  3. Maybe there'll be a nice dark horse candidate that we don't know about yet to gum up the works.
  4. The Red Sox had family considerations to worry about and could not move forward with Levine.
  5. Sox already have a SS and 2 decent defensive C's. I think Anthony has the best shot at an early callup.
  6. But what if he doesn't?!?!?! I was just conjecturing about possible movement at the top of the rankings, that's all.
  7. If Anthony starts off '24 hot, he'll be #1 in May or June. I would also say to watch out for Teel as he could leap ahead of Mayer too.
  8. Stats Masterson is legit.
  9. Is he legit enough of a candidate? He's never been a GM or worked in the office on a day to day basis.
  10. Bloom "didn't do badly" with the Diekman signing.
  11. The BUT was doing a lot of heavy lifting to justify the signing there...
  12. We talk about a lot of s*** that doesn't matter.
  13. I don't care about your cutoff, just that you were trying to justify the signing as good.
  14. @alexspeier Continuing to update the Red Sox search for a new head of baseball operations: Confirmed that Breslow has advanced in the process. Unknown if anyone else has. Multiple industry sources consider Breslow the favorite to get the job. Continuing to update this: At least one (and possibly more) internal Red Sox candidate is believed to remain in consideration in the team's search.
  15. Sorry, but Perez SUCKED while he was here. Diekman was terrible as well and trading him after the fact doesn't make it a better signing. Pillar was ok in a small sample, but was never good enough to bring back even at 3M last year. If they don't sign the dumb Paxton contract, they never go over the CBT in 2022.
  16. While Bloom had no problem churning and burning through the Joel Payamps of the world, he could have claimed Adolis Garcia with a waiver claim in February 2021. I guess waiting for Danny Santana was more important.
  17. At least the Pirates fans could commiserate about Cherington.
  18. There's no way you wanted the butterfly man in CF. No way.
  19. Tear down Fenway!
  20. Oh, he would have been worth the contract, but people would have still complained.
  21. So a couple of good signings would have fixed that then.
  22. I agree with the CF hot take.
  23. His BABIP would have been way worse in BOS too.
  24. He's a good prospect, but they'll be hesitant to pump him up until he's at least competed stateside. And why do so over the offseason? I think he could be that high midseason next year maybe.
