  1. I think Mayer’s defense looked better at 2b and 3b too.
  2. Thanks! I checked out Nick’s latest pod too and did a drinking game for mispronounced names. I’m now a ghost. 😥
  3. No prospect questions this time! 1. Ryan Watson seems like a very low ceiling guy who may never be more than a 5th/6th inning arm. The Sox are clearly just keeping him at this point for the years of control and MiLB options after this season. Maybe even less value than a guy like Zack Kelly. Has the Watson experience been worth it overall to you? 2. There have been a crazy amount of injury issues with this team in 2026. Is this specific to the Sox or is it a league wide trend? If it’s Sox specific, what could be the cause? 3. Is Chad Tracey earning the removal of the interim tag at all? 4. Thoughts on Bello’s WOO starts and timing of a return to Boston? (He’s not a prospect.)
  4. Romy was injured when he reported in February and was shutdown. At that point, they were clearly comfortable just going with Monasterio/IKF/et al. Seems like a bit of a mistake knowing the uncertainty with Mayer AND Story.
  5. I think they wanted to trade Duran, but didn't find the right value. They believed holding onto all these "assets" as injury insurance was a better plan than dealing them for lesser value.
  6. That's been the big question on him and why SP has him ranked in the 30's. Once he was no longer seen as a solid defensive catcher, he slid down in the rankings. There are things to like about his bat, but some concerning things as well. He needs to fix his bb rate and get the k rate down. If he can manage his weight a little bit, maybe it'd be easier on him behind the dish.
  7. I don't stan Ben. Bloom was actually able to build a farm. Ben was the one hit wonder with 2013. Everything else under Ben was really bad.
  8. The backup plan was Duran LF and Masa DH. The backup plan also failed.
  9. He was right. He left he Sox and now is in the WC and about 9 games ahead of where the Sox are with a payroll that is half the cost!
  10. They weren't running with "The Big Three" for no reason. They didn't turtle for a few years and wait for these guys to show up for no reason.
  11. Is that Mayer's problem as well? I hadn't noticed.
  12. If they didn't think he'd turn into a superstar, why give him the extension? Why bat him 1st right from the jump? They basically gave him the keys to the franchise.
  13. That's a different argument altogether. I agree with it though.
  14. If he has no market: DFA! Story's replacement was Mayer. I said that all offseason. 22 Story injury 23 Story injury 24 Story injury 25 Story healthy Seemed likely that 26 was going to be another Story IL season. Relying on him to be a fulltime player was foolish. At the very least, move him to 2b and find a real backup that could take over for fulltime reps knowing that the player may have to go for 100 games.
  15. Speier's connections are within the Sox org. Carrabis was getting info from within the DBags org. Which would be more likely to know what the DBags wanted in a trade? You're trying to prove me wrong, but I'm just stating the info I heard. You just don't like said info. 🪰
  16. Not if they can get him to 40 IP and the contract becomes guaranteed.
  17. He's clearly not the only guy who played like dogdoo, but he was a prime example of how the Sox got to where they are. All the people running to say how great of a player he is now just rings hollow. It's reminiscent of all the times JBJ would have a really hot stretch and then go back to hitting like garbage for 2 months. Maybe that's fine for a CFer, but I'm not ok with that for my 3b.
  18. And he did let that one ball drop between him and Wong the other day which was inexcusable.
  19. I don't want him diving into 1b anymore. That's all I'll say.
  20. My post was perfect. You're the nitpicker. 🪰
  21. That means nothing to me. It's not 1983 anymore. Nobody cares about Sports Illustrated. Using AI as a crutch is hilarious to me. Do whatever research you feel like. Jared Carrabis said on Section 10 that the AZ wanted Tolle and Early and had no interest in Mayer. He got that from people that he heard from that spoke to people within the DBags. That's the source I'm going with. I don't care if you like it or not.
  22. Who is going to confirm it? There was a report from AZ that said they didn't like Mayer. That's about it.
  23. It was just a few episodes of Section 10 ago where Jared said it was Early AND Tolle not Mayer. 🤷‍♂️
