  1. '22 should have sold the entire house from day 1 '23 56-50 at the deadline (sell Turner/Duvall/Sale) '24 57-51 at the deadline with a tough schedule coming up (sell Jansen and Martin)
  2. I don't like Cease and Okamoto is a big question mark. I was being kind.
  3. TOR's moves seemed very lateral too me. I thought they were angling for something bigger this offseason.
  4. There are "prospects" but like Breslow said they aren't guys that other organizations value highly. Who is left to trade? Bleis? Cespedes? Nobody cares about those two. Arias? They'll need somebody to take over for Story in two years. Gonzales hasn't made it out of A ball yet and doesn't have much value. The potpourri of pitchers? The already dealt half of them. Mikey Romero? Anybody really want him? Allan Castro? What value is there? There just isn't a lot of prospect capital left to really go out and get a big return right now. You're not going to get a haul for dealing DSL/A ball guys. You just aren't. Teams want near MLB ready guys. The Sox don't have those.
  5. We'll put a poll up at the end of ST that everyone can vote on.
  6. He was pretty good with the O's too. The wheels fell off with the Chris Davis contract and the owner not wanting to keep other players around.
  7. Honestly, he's just not getting fired after year 4. He's getting through year 5 no matter what. The next hiring they do will most likely be internal (Eddie Romero Jr) just because the hiring process has been so toxic than I don't think people around the game will want to come here.
  8. GM of the Offseason award? In the running: Dodgers, Orioles, White Sox
  9. For them to be a 78 win team, there'd have to be a significant injury in the rotation (I won't name names). It could get there. Breslow won't get fired if that happens. I don't see them getting worse than that. I think that's about as bad as it would get this year or next. I don't understand that second paragraph. There aren't any complete sentences included there.
  10. What's left to sell? After Gray is gone this offseason, Tolle/Early take that rotation spot. If you trade the other one, the rotation is paper thin.
  11. How many young guys interviewed last time? Not that many. Most were given raises/promotions and declined to interview.
  12. USA Today is a reputable source? Is it 1987?
  13. I agree with the Tolle assessment. They've always been weirdly low on Early and I've stated as much. I'm lower on Arias than everyone else, so pass. No idea on Witherspoon. Valera's sounds fine?
  14. The real dregs IMO. Talk about running it back. A guy with no experience and is fine with being a yes man. Scary.
  15. He'll be back if they finish 5th place.
  16. It has nothing to do with "efficiency" and everything to do with "building a ballclub" to not have 2 DH's sitting on the bench in mid July.
  17. If they let Breslow go early, they'll never get anyone to take the job. They had to settle for Breslow to begin with. It'll really be the dregs next time (Amaro, Van Wagenan, Wally, etc.).
  18. Maybe they'll pull out more low scoring wins too. I think it'll be interesting to see if the actually score 2 runs or less more often than in previous years. If it was already about 30% of the time, we can anticipate about that many Gamethreads devolving into "this is Craig's fault" over and over again no matter what.
  19. The pitches that got hit around last time for Kutter were the 4 seamer and the sweeper. The movement he gets on his splitter is pretty mediocre to bad. There is no vertical drop to it. Lots of work to be done if he's going to rely on it more.
  20. It's more likely he dumps his 4 seamer for the splitter and keeps the cutter.
  21. His cutter has always had a better run value than his splitter. It'd be silly to dump it just because other pitchers have transitioned to splitters.
  22. He traded a lot of prospects, but Ben Cherington did an awful job drafting. By the time DD showed up, there wasn't really a lot left to trade away. Plus, the IFA shenanigans hurt the farm for a few years. DD trading to win a WS + a waning farm system + IFA losses = easy talking point of DD decimated the farm.
  23. They weren't going to get Schwarber because they already had a LHB at DH, two in fact, three if you count Duran.
  24. Projected bWAR or fWAR tho?
  25. Why would you ever listen to what Breslow says? I thought this was covered already in the powerpoint?
