  1. Taylor Ward doesn't seem like a horrible idea to me.
  2. You want to offer him a deal that gives him an opt out after 2027. If you were Bres, you'd be fired after 4 years just like the rest of them for doing that.
  3. So an extension that is just inclusive of a 3 year opt out after 2027. Awful stuff. He's going to make next to nothing in ARB the next two years and you could offer a QO after '26. Only gaining one year of control doesn't move the needle at all IMO.
  4. For only being the third pod together, it's already better than a lot of other Sox podcasts that are out there.
  5. Grissom has zero innings played in the OF in his professional career. Hamilton has 69. That bench is not suitable for an MLB roster IMO. I'd dump Hamilton or Romy before Refsnyder if they want to compete. It makes no sense to get rid of the one guy who mashes LHP and keep two weak defense MIFers (Hamilton and Grissom) or a guy DFA'd by the 2024 ChiSox (Romy). I know we all love to get behind the 26th guy on the roster, but the love for Romy is a little ridiculous. If they DFA'd him, there's a good chance he'd pass through waivers.
  6. I'm fine with a one year ARB agreement and then a 6 year contract with 4 year opt out. I think getting less than 5 years out of Crochett would be a nightmare.
  7. If that's what they want on the bench, Campbell makes 1,000,000 X more sense than Grissom.
  8. If we don't deal him, he may get injured. It's a real Sophie's choice.
  9. If we deal Story, he could win Comeback Player of the Year though...
  10. Feel free to dogpile/pigpile (whichever is your preference) on Alex as he stated on the podcast that he typically doesn't add to the "engagement" unless it gets on the larger side. Maybe we can shame him into justifying his hatred of Rob Refsnyder. I'm sure Vaughn Grissom and his 81 career OPS+ and horrible defense is a better fit for the team than a guy who has had a 119 OPS+ while with the Sox.
  11. Baseball players have always gotten injured. Ellis Burks and Mike Greenwell weren't jacked to the gills and they had injury issues off and on. Not every player can be a Dwight Evans and stay relatively healthy for most of their career.
  12. Yeah, Romy isn't really great in the OF. It doesn't make much sense to have Romy, Grissom and Hamilton on the bench at the same time as they all serve the same purpose.
  13. So they agree to one year ARB and then an extension with a 3 year opt out starting in 26. So a 4 year deal?
  14. 3 years is too soon since they already have control of him for 2.
  15. 2018: tore UCL in thumb in second game 2019: 500 2021: 449 (including AFL) 2022: 429 (doesn't include USA baseball stats 24+ PA's,, missed 2 months with high ankle sprain) 2023: 502 (shoulder inflamation) 2024: 292 (rib injury)
  16. Why would they work on an extension? He said no last year and their offer would be lower this time.
  17. Nintendo's ownership stake is a big reason the Mariners acquired Ichiro. I think them owning a team on the West Coast contributed to that conversation.
  18. His WAR would have been higher if he was left in CF for the whole season too.
  19. Grissom doesn't have a track record of being injured prior to last season and neither does Masa. Story and Casas are a different issue at the moment.
  20. Not if they don't have a replacement at 3B.
  21. Blooming late in his MiLB career the some adjustments under the new admin. Maybe he can continue to improve and provide something. Ceiling of a 4/5, but maybe a bulk innings guy in the pen?
