  1. There was a Pirates blog yesterday about the team losing money last year and my accounting brain wanted to yuck their yum because of some of the nonsense in the blog. Better off to not get in the weeds sometimes. Good article here though. Bell loves PV.
  2. 17 k’s for the Sox offense tonight.
  3. DHam stealing 2b and 3b on back to back pitches and tagging home on the following pitch.
  4. I don’t see him starting game 1 at 2b. It could happen at some point though.
  5. Newcomb looks more than capable to be the 5th starter.
  6. Already in an org that has projected bullpen issues and could get called up in a few weeks VS heading home and waiting for a call that may not come (Moore sucked last season, Ottavino is at the end of his career).
  7. If they stick around, it'll be in AAA.
  8. Story 4 WAR season in '25. Bregman and Story opt out this offseason.
  9. It was only for ONE YEAR of Mookie Betts, so let me tell you why the deal worked out in favor of the Red Sox...
  10. That's a function of him being his own agent.
  11. Mr No Numbers Alex Verdugo. Sox should offer him a MiLB deal.
  12. He's a contact hitter that was supposed to develop some pop. He had a 920 OPS in AAA in '23. It just fell apart last year. He wouldn't be the first prospect to fall off the map.
  13. It's not the greatest spring for sure, but "such a tough" is really weird. I mean, Priester wasn't really lighting the world on fire last summer in AAA. I don't know what the expectations were for some people. I think maybe the Sox got a little to excited about Priester's stuff getting better this offseason. There were gains, but nothing like what we saw from Fitts. FWIW, Nick Yorke has a 575 OPS this spring.
  14. "Such a tough spring" = one bad start apparently?
  15. Long term, Abreu isn't going to be a fulltime OFer here so I don't see the point in starting him vs LHP. They are seemingly committed to Rafaela and Duran playing fulltime. vs LHP Refsnyder LF (especially if at Fenway) Duran CF Rafaela RF vs RHP Duran LF Rafaela CF Abreu RF That's fine until Anthony is called up. At that point, Abreu becomes the 4th OFer and Refsnyder starts against really difficult LHP.
  16. If he can't hit, it doesn't matter what his position is.
  17. Getting reps so that he's warming up the position temporarily until Abreu is ready to play fulltime.
