  1. After this year, Perales will only have one option season left to figure out how to be a starter before having to be put on an MLB roster permanently. I think we are 50/50 that he's heading to the pen once he's fully rehabbed and in BOS plans.
  2. Yeah, players can fall off after their prime seasons. Is that surprising?
  3. Sure, no contract is without risk. I think hitters are a bit safer though.
  4. They have a lot of guys that can start, but nobody that jumps off the page at you that needs to be extended: Dobbins, Early, Sandlin, Perales, Fitts, Priester, etc. I don't know if any of them project to be more than a 4 right now at best, so I wouldn't bother extending them as the $ isn't worth the injury risk.
  5. Sure, but we've seen many more pitchers completely lose it when compared to hitters. Trout seems to be a very rare case.
  6. Max ceiling? Hard to say. Right now, he's a 3rd starter max unless he really figures it out. At best he's a #2 if he learns control and can extend his great stretches out during the season and limit the "big innings" that we see in almost every game. "Stuff" wise, he's not a TOTR guy at all. If he's a 2, it's in the vein of Porcello.
  7. Probably higher for a pitcher, but a hitter could at least see diminished production due to an injury.
  8. I'm not sure there is much of a difference between a one year and a two year extension. Also, Bello is set to make 19 and 20M post ARB years. To think Crochet would make anywhere less than that in 2027 and beyond (in an extension) would be ridiculous.
  9. Brought him back because he's good at posting. Pitching? He'll throw some heat in WOO, but he was not a good hang (unless online) in 2020.
  10. Yes, IDEALLY. It just depends on if Crochet wants to sign now for guaranteed money or bet on himself and get to FA. If he wants to bet on himself, the Sox will have to make it worth his while to stick around.
  11. They are in an extending mood now too apparently. I guess that means Crochet will get FA market value or more!
  12. Sure, but you still have to take into account what this guy could make in his post ARB seasons, because that's what Crochet will be taking into account when he sits down to negotiate (approx 12M for two seasons of ARB and then off to FA).
  13. Explain the Rafaela extension then? Higher than what he'd get via ARB and FA.
  14. It's better for the numbers to get "insane" then to let him walk away IMO.
  15. So they now have the starting pitchers who pitched the 3rd and 4th innings of last year's All Star Game and you believe Bello is better than a 4. But they haven't improved the team?
  16. I think they have a strong core of young bats they can extend, but the pitching side is VERY light when compared to the Braves. It would be in the same vein of the Braves, but not really duplicating what they were able to do. Also, I wouldn't call Devers "cost controlled" when compared to Ozzie Albies in this model.
  17. The SoxProspect guys prefer Yates over Estevez, but I'd take either as they would both improve the pen. I don't see them going for Scott.
  18. That's his arbitration amount. Arbitration has no bearing on what he'd making via FA. It's two completely different things. Don't know why you are conflating the two and bringing up Skubal's arb number.
  19. In the past month, has Pivetta's market been more than the Reds and Blue Jays? Really unsure what he's going to get at this moment. Early on, people thought he'd exceed 3/67, but IDK.
