  1. Yes, he has good counting stats because he plays a lot.
  2. After falling 0-1, Rafaela has an OPS of 512. He has a first pitch swing % of 50%. The only other Sox regulars 35% or higher are Wong (35%) and Romy (42%). League average is 30.4%.
  3. When they tried to force him to take more pitches in MiLB, his OPS cratered. He just doesn't have a batter's eye at all. Why force him to take a pitch right down the middle? He's best when he swings away. It's ugly, but it would only be uglier otherwise.
  4. I'll watch to see if Fitts can continue to pitch well. He needs to get the k/9 a little higher though. 3.4 isn't going to do it with his stuff. Festa should rack up a few k's of his own in this one.
  5. If Rafaela was a 1B or 3B like those two, he would have never been promoted. He'd be mashing in AAA and everyone would be crying about how the offense desperately needs Rafaela because of how pathetic they have been lately.
  6. I agree that he has a lot of utility. If he was 100% committed to SS, he probably could be better than Story. Switching between the two positions is not helping him in the least. The problem remains where to put him while you have Duran and Story on the roster. 2b is a waste. I think they need to decide where they want him for the next 6 years and just put him there on Opening Day. From what I know of the Red Sox, they'll continue to hem and haw over the decision and he'll still play all 3 positions in some manner next season UNLESS they deal a few of the playing time roadblocks.
  7. I have much higher hopes for Fitts and Priester than Penrod as a starter. Not sure they will be more than back end guys, but they should be able to compensate for the loss of Pivetta. Penrod is purely a reliever going forward. He'll be 28 next season and he has only thrown 3 innings in 4 MLB games. At the moment he's an early career Andrew Miller clone who loses control at a moments notice.
  8. Last offseason, some people questioned if they should trade him for Edward Cabrera of the Marlins. I don't think Cabrera would have helped the Sox very much this year and I'm not high on him going forward.
  9. '22 - 113 K, 26 BB '23 - 131 K, 30 BB I mean, he's pretty much doing what he was projected to do. I thought the extension was a little early/high. He's a good player if you can absorb him at 9. You just can't really cheapen out at many other fielding positions.
  10. They both have the same record over the past 10 games. Twins have a better run differential this season. I think the two teams are fairly evenly matched, but the Sox have nothing to play for and the Twins are still in the WC race. If there's a sweep, it would be ugly for the Sox IMO.
  11. Absolute zero chance of that happening. Red Sox have been horrible at home all year and are in a nose dive.
  12. You should check out what the O's offense has done lately! 🤮
  13. Bryan Gonzalez named SAL season All Star. He is the all time Drive HR leader and had a nice bounceback season. He had 3 HR's in his first two DSL games, but hadn't shown significant in game power until this year.
  14. It's just rolling the dice on keeping Story healthy. He would be a great team leader and it could take a lot of the media focus off of Raffy.
  15. Good news is that Dave Sims of the Mariners broadcast is a finalist for the Yankees radio gig. You'll be able to hate him even more if he gets the job.
  16. This was an overhaul of pitching development. They already had hired a significant amount of people to focus on that department so I'm sure Justin Willard was already deciding which guys needed to go as he is on Craig's wavelength. I think the EXTERNAL audit will bring up other changes throughout baseball operations that need to be made.
  17. A lady went to her doctor and found out she only had 6 months to live. "Doc, what should I do?!?" "Find yourself a nice accountant and get married." "Will that make me live longer?" "No, but it will make it SEEM longer!"
  18. More than 50% of the seats are absolutely brutal. It is not in a centralized location and a pain to get to for the most part. They should have torn it down when there was momentum 25 years ago. 💥
  19. They aren't doing an internal audit. They hired external consultants to audit their personnel. Also, I think these changes aren't necessarily related to what the consultants found.
  20. A .290 DH with no speed and little power? He doesn't have much use to me even on a playoff team.
  21. If Story was healthy, his contract would not be an issue. Giolito's contract is palatable and short. Masa is DH only and here for a while. He clearly has the worst contract.
  22. I wouldn't do that deal.
  23. Cora said no further damage can happen from playing, it’s just pain tolerance.
