  1. @bostonsportsinf There are 1,569 batters with > 3,400 AB’s, in their career, in the HISTORY of MLB Only 1 players has BA ≤ .230 OPS ≤ .700 K ≥ 1,000 Jackie Bradley Jr crazy but true
  2. A lot of mock drafts have Fabian going late 2nd round now. Whoops. Tough break, kid.
  3. At 24, I can talk myself into a reclamation project like that, especially when you have the Fabian pick right after.
  4. What's your definition of "no one."
  5. And honestly, just two FA acquisitions at RF/1B would have made the difference here. I think Bloom wasn't expecting Kiké to crater and an injury to Casas, but sometimes you need a one year bridge to get to where you're going. Dalbec has been soooo bad and there's just been no urgency to make a move. The JBJ move just didn't make a whole lot of sense. They took on MORE salary for a worse player to get two prospects. The AA prospect seems to be an org guy that won't have an MLB impact. Binelas could be an MLB guy, but is just years away. Is that a move you make without having a backup plan for the blackhole in the roster? OF questions going forward: Kiké done after 2022. Re-sign? I say no. Duran, can he play CF? Doesn't seem like it. He doesn't have the arm for RF. LF only profile? Verdugo has a -3 DRS in LF this year. His defense is getting worse. He's slowed down every year since 2020. Would he even be able to play RF anymore? LF only profile now? Are they really going to bring JBJ back? Why not just buy him out? Negative fWAR guy for 2 straight years. Better to leave him at home. Cordero is not a MLB talent. Can they rely on Refsnyder long term? I don't think so. Do any of these AAA guys have the ability to play CF/RF at Fenway: Fitzgerald, Granberg.... uh, all the other guys are just org filler (Stewart, Davis, Mieses)? Granberg is actually kind of interesting to me because he has just hit everywhere he's been. He's under the radar for sure. Is Rafaela close enough to ready for 2023 at some point?
  6. @redsoxstats Everyone's putting out their final mocks before last minute tweaks today.. Kiley McDaniel/ESPN: 24. Boston Red Sox Kumar Rocker, RHP, Tri-City Prospects Live: 24. Boston Red Sox Jordan Beck, OF, Tennessee Baseball America: 24. Boston Red Sox Chase DeLauter, OF, James Madison
  7. I believe the original comic was written en francais, in modern French if you will. I was not stating that Asterix was French, just that comic is written in French, so it's a French comic book.
  8. It's the perfect time to deal him then. Other teams will believe he'll bounce back!
  9. I think that's what I thought when I posted the lineup before the game started. Plawecki has been dogshit this year. DFA. Call up Wong. His OPS is below .500. Enough already. The Verdugo of 2020 isn't walking through that door. He should have been traded when he had value. Downs isn't an MLB guy. Cordero is a backup at best, but he's getting regular time. JBJ is who he is and we expected it. If Duran isn't getting on at the top of the lineup, there's only 3 guys that you can count on. It's ugly.
  10. A last DAMN place team that is .500 or above would get the biggest asterisk this side of a French comic book. They have been horrible against the AL East this year. What that tells me is that, they'll probably do better against TBR, TOR, BAL, NYY down the stretch.
  11. @NYY - this weekend TOR - next weekend CLE - 4 games MIL - 3 games Long homestand to get us to the trade deadline. Will be interesting.
  12. Why? Crawford didn't have a high pitch count? When all was said and done, he only threw 91 pitches. If Houck is the closer, why would you use him in the 7th inning? Didn't Schreiber end up taking the loss anyway?
  13. While this is technically true, they are zero games back in the Wild Card standings. Interesting that you didn't mention that.
  14. Horrific = ALCS appearance in 1 out of 2 years. Wow, such great insight!
  15. I'm not sure it'd be that exciting because he just wouldn't get to anything. He's probably got the range of Jeter.
  16. Winckowski and Crawford both had QS. Hard to blame them for the loss. The bottom half of the order did them no favors.
  17. Northcut with 25 HR, 36 K%, 283 OBP, 112 wRC+ is trying to be the first two true outcomes player HR or K. I respect it.
  18. Duran RF, Devers 3B, Martinez DH, Bogaerts SS, Verdugo LF, Cordero 1B, Plawecki C, Bradley CF, Downs 2B
  19. @brendan_camp #RedSox promote Michael Gettys to Double-A Portland
  20. Last time out against TBR, Crawford pitched 5.1, 0 ER, 8 K, 1 BB, 2 H. Let's go!
  21. Ignoring his first start jitters against BAL: 6 GS 3.71 ERA 5.2 IP/S 1.29 WHIP The only bad start out of the 6 was against NYY. He's been fine for a guy still getting his feet wet.
  22. @MLBPipeline 97.8 mph! Oneil Cruz with the fastest recorded infield assist in the Statcast era! https://twitter.com/MLBPipeline/status/1547631549176197120 Absolute cannon. Pirates fans don't have much else to enjoy this year aside from Chavis' long hair.
  23. Triston Casas went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles for FCL Sox today and started at 1B. Bleis also went 2 for 4 with a stolen base.
  24. I agree. The need is to find a 1B that can hit and reasonably field the position through October. Maybe the need for relievers diminishes with Eovaldi, Sale, Hill and Wacha coming back. Keep Crawford and Winckowski up in some capacity. Whitlock is in the pen. Maybe Paxton can offer something at some point.
  25. No, 1B, RP and RP. One guy we kinda like and two mediocre options.
