Schreiber was decent in AAA last season. I think the only reason he didn't get more of a shot in the pen last year is that it didn't fall apart the way this year's pen did.

With Perez, it could be a one year blip. He did increase his sinker usage and it was very effective for him.

With Springs, they spoke about the reasons they liked him during 2022 (spin rates, k rates, etc) and considered him a potential late inning guy. Not sure why they didn't give him another shot. He had flashes in 2022, more so than the other dreck out there in the pen.

I don't think they are going to trade anything substantial for a backup catcher.

They valued WONG more than Plawecki. Keeping a 3rd catcher on the roster served no purpose down the stretch. They needed to give Wong additional reps with the pitching staff, but also needed filler like Almonte to hold a glove and stand in the OF.

Well, every team has internal options for a 4th OF if you are going to go down to AAA.

I agree. I'm not too sure which direction they are going to go with on Paxton, but just increases the uncertainty surrounding the rotation IMO. The Sox need a new version of Porcello, someone who can take the ball every 5th day and be counted on.

I was just saying that Refsnyder was clearly NOT Cora's plan in Spring Training. That there was no plan aside from "I guess throw Arroyo out there." None of that would have fixed JBJ regardless and at no point did I claim that.

Ward left most recent start early. However, this was due to "side discomfort" and had nothing to do with his arm. @ChrisHenrique Red Sox pitching prospect Thad Ward left the game with the trainer in his second start in the Arizona Fall League. He pitched three innings for the Scottsdale Scorpions. Ward surrendered four hits, gave up two runs both earned, walked five and struck out two.
