  1. @IanMBrowne Penultimate game of Spring Training. Hernández CF, Devers 3B, Bogaerts SS, Martinez LF, Story 2B, Dalbec 1B, Bradley DH, Arroyo RF, Plawecki C, Houck P Seems like the normal batting order will be: Kiké Devers Bogey JD Verdugo Story Dalbec Vaz JBJ
  2. NEWS FLASH @NBCSEdgeBB Rich Hill named Red Sox' fifth starter to open '22
  3. @PavlovicNBCS MLB announced previously reported rule changes (28-man roster in April, ghost runners, etc.). Any options used while rosters are expanded won't count toward limit of five. @nightengalejr MLB announced rule changes for the 2022 season: -28-man rosters through May 1. Maximum of 13 pitchers on 26-man roster afterward. -10-day IL for pitchers until May 2. -Players can be optioned a max. of 5 times, but any options before May 2 don't count toward that number.
  4. I would say that it does burn an option year whenever a guy is called up to be the 27th man in a doubleheader.
  5. Agree.
  6. Hard to say. The new agreement hasn't been posted online yet.
  7. I think Bloom believes Crawford will make an impact this year. Whichever pitcher gets demoted to the pen from the rotation should be decent there. He is also probably projecting a jump for Wickowski, Zack Kelly and maybe Bello this season. I think they have some arms, just that the Opening Day lineup is a little too hodgepodge. This team should be better on July 1 than April 1.
  8. There's a good chance the last two guys are Arauz and someone who opts out or is DFA'd from another team.
  9. I think you need to be able to juggle the on field aspects of the game with the advanced metrics. There is value in things like WAR and value in things like the dreaded eye test. I think you also have to be aware of what scouts are saying around the game about the players we are talking about.
  10. Worse, Groome's curveball isn't back either.
  11. I think Crawford leapt over Seabold this offseason. He's come in throwing fire and seems to be a lock to at least make the pen in a multi inning role. I think Seabold still has a higher ceiling than Kutter, but his stuff just disappeared somehow. Winckowski also has a higher season than Kutter, but needs to develop one more pitch.
  12. He's apparently competing for the 5th spot with Whitlock. I guess Wacha is a lock to make the rotation before him. Hill looked good in the bullpen a long time ago for the Sox.
  13. Reports are that his bat speed is way down. Would be a shame to DFA someone just to get him on the 40 man.
  14. That's basically his 2018 season. Fine by me.
  15. RESULTS ARE IN: @byJulianMack Cora said Sale’s scheduled MRI showed that his rib fracture is “healing.” Said the next step for Sale is to see how he feels and begin throwing. Seems as if it still might be a while before Sale is a full go. Yay.
  16. There will be a really awkward photo of the two on a tarmac somewhere.
  17. If you look at the game logs, the wheels came off on 8/7 when the Sox tried to pitch him twice in a double header. Whoopsie.
  18. It's not looking great. Feels like how LF felt going into 2021.
  19. You got me. I don't know how to calculate DRS. I don't care to either.
  20. It would flip Xander to CF.
  21. Advanced statistical debates are quite lively at Clancy's. Big Joe has a +3 on MTR (missing toilet receptacle) Sully is a -5 on VIA (vomiting in alley) Al is -35 on STP (server tip percentage)
  22. Ok, so we're beyond talking about a mirror then?
  23. Those boys down at Clancy's also like to yell ignorant s*** at the tv whenever Betts would watch a called third strike.
