    I wanted to wish all of you a Merry Christmas. So much has happened since October 27, but it's time now to just reflect on what a wonderful season it was. I will never forget it.

    Roberts was here for just a short time but it was absolutely perfect. Without a doubt his stolen base in Game 4 of the ALCS kept the Sox alive and sparked the 8 game winning streak. After the trade in July there were postings here about what he could do the Sox and it was all true. I hope he does well in S.D.

    It does get uglier and the best thing to do is just to ignore it now. Pedro has chosen to extend his heart to Boston fans while trashing his teamates and Theo. His words smack of bitterness. We all know what Pedro was about while he was in Boston, coming late to spring training, leaving in the middle of games and taking off early for the all-star break, but he pitched his heart out and ultimately his arm off, and now the Mets will have to deal with it.

    I think is a good signing. Sure Theo may have overpaid, but we needed the starter. Five of Clement's no decisions and loses in 2004, he only gave up 1 ER in each game, a win in those starts gives him 14 wins. The Sox bats will be there in 2005. I think this is better than giving up Arroyo in a trade for Burnett. Now sign Tek!!!!

    Some things can still hold this up include the Dodgers having second thoughts after losing Beltre, Green not waiving his "no trade" clause, Penny passing a physical, and the DBacks wanting someone to pick up part of Green's salary.

    it's a shame it has to end this way with his sad story of how he wanted to stay and no one believing a single word. He won his distorted view of "respect" at Shea and lost any true respect he had with Sox fans.

    I like the 9K's per 9 innings from Clement but the 3.68 ERA bothers me as he moves from the National to the American League. I don't think he's worth 9 mill a year. On the other hand I also don't see the logic in trading a healthy Bronson for Burnett who seems to be hurt every year.

    It's now up to Clement where he goes. From today's Globe: I would hate to see the Sox get in a bidding war for Clement, yet we do need a solid starter.

    I like Burnett, in fact the Sox were rumored to be working on a deal for him last July until the Marlins turned around and dealt Penny to the Dodgers.

    What's bugging me is the fact that because of Pedro Theo couldn't land Radke, or chase after Pavano and now he's left with over-paying Clement.

    The Hudson deal looks like a long shot and Clement may be too late. All of a sudden Derek Lowe is now the best free agent pitcher out there.

    Gammons on ESPN Radio Monday afternoon says the Mets have now offered Pedro a 4th year guaranteed, and it looks like he's gone.

    I didn't and still don't get all the hype over a guy who had one good year. I always thought Radke was a better fit in Boston. So now Theo tries to hook Hudson.

    Back to the thread... Signing Renteria seems to indicate Hanley Ramirez may now be available in a trade for Johnson...?
