  1. I am so sick and tired of how Red Sox pitchers pitch to Matsui. HE IS LOW BALL HITTER! GET THE BALL UP! You would think after a few years of this, someone on Yawkey Way would notice.
  2. Stupid play, third out at third, especially on Sheffield.
  3. Game Time, TV on, sound off.
  4. Apparently Reebok gave him a specially designed high top shoe that he will try to throw with in a bullpen session. It looks like Tito is not giving up on having Schilling come back for at least one game.
  5. We need Games 3 and I need Maalox and Tums.
  6. Arroyo does hit batters, alot. Who knows, maybe he'll pop Rodriguez with a sinker on his elbow pad and he can start dropping f-bombs until Tek makes him read the Rawlings label on his glove. Oh sorry, that already happened, but it would be fun to see it again.
  7. Sox pitching has given up 9 BB in the first two games. That has to stop. Arroyo is just the guy to be agressive on the mound and get ahead in counts. In all his pressure starts he has shown poise and no fear. Damon and Bellhorn need to get on base for Manny and Ortiz and they can't wait until the 6th inning to do it. The Sox need to break into the MFY bullpen early and use up Torre's arms. Praying doesn't hurt either.
  8. I may sound like an "idiot" but I think Lowe is going to be ok. He pitched well against Anaheim and he's throwing for a new contract.

    Pedro

I think Pedro pitched good, 7 K's. Especially now when Schilling is out, he is stepping up his game. No run support = no win.
  10. It's not just Tito who gets the blame here. Didn't the doctors know this could happen if they numbed his ankle? and If so, who in the Red Sox agreed to take that chance? I think this vaults Lowe back in the rotation, and what a perfect time. If he ever wants a big contract next year, his opportunity is here. Money motivates and I really think he'll pitch well.
  11. The Sox should take a long look at how they're pitching the MFY and how they're pitching to them. Turning this series around is not just a matter of being back at Fenway. Sox pitchers needs to get ahead in counts and consistently stay high and tight on Jeter, Rodriguez and Matsui. I'll scream if I see another low pitch to Matsui, he is a great low ball hitter, period. Sox hitters need to adjust and stop chasing bad pitches. Being patient is good, but they are down in counts and it's hard to hit like that in big game situations. Obviously Friday is crucial. Thankfully, enough of them were here last year when they came back to Fenway down 2-0 to Oakland.
  12. Schilling did go 1-2-3 in the 2nd inning so there was reason to believe Schilling could work out his trouble on the mound. Just so I don't sound like a Francona apologist, I thought Lescanic was a bad move. Anyone who walks out of the bullpen and then walks the first two guys he faces doesn't deserve to pitch in a game. I know he didn't give up any runs, but Tito's faith in this guy could hurt this weekend. As for the offense, clearly the hitters are pressing, swinging at balls that aren't even close. I wonder what Francona is doing to calm his players.
  13. Well, Schilling and Damon were just terrible, and without #38 pitching well and without #18 getting on base, it was going to be tough. The comeback was a good sign but the middle relief was a disaster, except for Embree. Sox pitchers cannot get behind in counts and expct to get these guys out. And why, after several years do the Sox fail to see that Matsui is a low ball hitter? Timlin got him out in the 8th with a high pitch inside, SURPRISE! Down 1-0 is not horrible, but it's time the Sox get in the game from start to finish.

    Pedro

If ever there was an opportunity for Pedro to reclain his ace status this is it.
  15. I'm looking for Schilling to be great tonight. The hitter that scares me most is Matsui, Schilling has to be careful with him. I see Francona is leaving Youk out and putting Mendoza in to shore up the bullpen. This could be a key move of the series. Tek needs to hit better, I mean, hit against the MFY. Damon getting on base seems to be a key to big innings. If the Sox are behind late watch for the exciting Dave Roberts to pinch run. GO SOX!!!
  16. I'm going with Red Sox in 6. I don't think Schilling and Pedro beat them twice, but I do see Arroyo and Wake coming up big at home. Pedro nuts up for Game 6 knowing it's his moment to shine.
  17. I don't like this trade at all. However, I do like acquiring AJ Burnett.
  18. Yeah, I just read this too in the Herald. http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view...articleid=48220 Again, the faith in Lescanic cannot be great if the Sox waited until the day of Game 1 to decide on keeping Williamson off the roster, considering he now needs surgery.
  19. The Sox get to make a new roster for the ALCS and once again the Williamson question comes up. I'm wondering if the Sox had Williamson for the ALDS, would Tito have gone to Embree in the 7th in Game 3 to face Erstad, and then brought in Williamson to face Vlad. Clearly Tito has no faith in Lescanic in pressue situations, so why bother even putting him on the roster? I know everyone is worried about Williamson pitching two days in a row, but if you need an out, Williamson is more valuable than Lescanic. Maybe the Sox need to carry Williamson and take Youklis off for the ALCS.
  20. It was a series saving ending. Think of the momentum the Sox had last year after Trot's HR against Oakland. The Angels finally had life. After the 7th I just thinking of how miserable it would be to play a Game 4.
  21. This game had me tied in knots. I was visiting my dad in the hospital and listened to Trup's call of Ortiz's HR on the radio. I'm glad I did, I'd rather have that memory than Berman's call. As for the game, Arroyo was great. He is clearly no #5 starter for next year. Tito has to thank his lucky stars for not pinch running for Ortiz in the 8th, even though I thought he should have. Although why Tito didn't bring in Embree to pitch to Erstad in the 7th puzzles me. Myers looked weak against a righty hitter (no surprise). Timlin needs rest. He fought fatigue late in the summer and Tito went to the well one too many times. Foulke was a stud on the mound. He looked very sharp with his change ups. How ironic that Lowe gets the win in Game 3, the guy who probably should have been the #3 starter if he didn't fall apart in September. Now the team gets rest, namely the pitchers and the rotation is set.
  22. I still can't sleep. This was a great win. So many came up big. Tek (HR), Manny (sac fly on a great AB against KRod), Millar (defense, yes defense),Timlin, Myers, and Foulke, Cabrerra (3 RBI triple), even Tito managed a good game, inserting Roberts at the right time, and using the bullpen to perfection. But the biggest pat on the back goes to Pedro, who went out there and pitched a game that only he could pitch. I feel so good about this team. Coming home up 2-0.

    Pedro

Outstanding!!! Pedro pitched his heart out in Game 2 and showed everyone he is still a great pitcher. The K to end the 7th was a fitting end to a fantastic effort. He dug down deep and went out with something to prove and he delivered.
  24. Those old playoff jitters are back. Curt is going to mow them down. I want to see the Sox hit early and often, break into the Angels bullpen and put them in a hole. I can't wait. GO SOX!!!
  25. I think the key to the series is Curt in Game 1. If he wins today, Sox in 4, wrapping up at Fenway. The Sox also need to have the lead by the 7th. Scoring runs on the Angels late in the game against Rodriguez and Percival has been almost impossible. I'm real nervous just like evey year, but I also feel real good about this series. The Angels are a hot team, but the Sox are on a mission. I just hope they don't press too much. GO SOX!!!
