  1. Stupid steal by Ortiz
  2. Friggin' O's lay down and die to NY and then all of a sudden play well this weekend. No bullpen help and no bats...
  3. Theo has to keep Stern on the 40 man roster or send him back to Atlanta. I like Super Jew coming back, but in the long run Stern can turn into a good player and needs to keep a spot on the roster.
  4. It looks like he's coming back. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=kaplerleavingjapanreturn&prov=tsn&type=lgns Sure he has his faults, such as swinging at first pitches and not hitting breaking balls, but he does have speed and more power than Adam Stern.
  5. One hitter against Embree is all I can take.
  6. No Tito, don't do it.....not the bullpen
  7. Nice lead, but I don't want to see the bullpen. Keep Clement in the game.
  8. It makes you wonder what took so long. If it is his knee or knees I wouldn't hold out hope he'd be back this year.
  9. I'm afraid we're heading to closer by committee days...again.
  10. I don't see many immediate options until the end of the month with the trade deadline. Schilling's uncertainty delays sending Arroyo to the pen. I'm still upset over the way Cla Meredith was rushed up from AA and then imploded. Mantei is gone and Embree has no value. Timlin is going to have to be the closer for now leaving a big hole in middle to late relief.
  11. I wouldn't go so far as to say he's done alot for the team. He's had moments, but mostly I find myself rooting for a walk when this guy is at the plate. Ultimately you have to judge a player on whether his upside outweighs his downside, and so far this year the K's and pop ups are hurting this lineup.
  12. Crappy game...it's starting to look more likely that Arroyo will go to the pen...waiting for good trade rumors on bullpen relief.
  13. This is on Foulke, no excuses. With the bases juiced he's got to punch him out.
  14. Just a great game, all around. Trot is pounding the ball, Clement is strong and Big Papi flashed some serious leather at first.
  15. Let's keep this run going and never look back.
  16. For a time now Tito has shown no faith in Trot against lefthanded pitchers. I was not glad to see Payton pinch hit for Trot Friday night in an RBi situation. With the game on the line I'd rather have Trot at the plate against a lefty rather than Jay Payton.
  17. 9:05 start, central time.
  18. Central Missouri is under a tornado watch until 9pm and all the rain is moving east into St. Louis.
  19. If they do play, it won't be for a while. The Sox go to Chicago for a game Friday, which is a 50 minute flight and the Cards are home this weekend for NY. They have every reason to play tomorrow.
  20. Lots of rain on the St. Louis radar. Chances are this game won't be played. Both teams have tomorow off, so there is an easy make up date.
  21. Embree has clearly lost something and what bothers me is how Tito still tried to use him as a middle reliever. I think he has some value as a situational guy against leftys. He did make Edmonds look bad Monday night, and I was glad to see Tito get him out of the game with rightys coming up.
  22. Well so much for that sportswriter's hope about the generous and forgiving St. Louis fan. Driving home tonight from the game it was suggested on St. Louis sports radio that maybe there is a racial undercurrent to Renteria's treatment at Busch, considering other former players like JD Drew are still cheered. The fact is, the Sox offered more up front money while the Cards played it cheap by offering deferred salary, hardly a reward for a player considered a captain. All Edgar did was take the best offer. Cards fans knocked themselves off that pedestal that others put them on by showing their ugly side. Maybe now, Edgar realizes he can't go home and maybe this makes him feel more a part of the Sox. I'm actually starting to feel sorry for this guy.
  23. Just got back after going to the game. Like most Sox fans there, it was just a chance to extend the celebration we had last October. And it was great to march in there in our World Champs gear. Cards fans strutted around afterwards like it was revenge, but it wasn't, and it didn't anger any of us. However, the Sox were out-pitched, out-hit and out-hustled and that does bother me. I hope when Mirabelli comes back it straightens out Wake. Edgar was a car wreck. And Manny, still, seems to have no punch in his swing. This is a tough stretch against two hgot teams in the NL. It was also hot as hell, it must have been 90 all night.
  24. Miller and the pen pitched well. Big Papi to the rescue again.
