  1. I was superstitious in 75, 78, 86, 99 and 03. I gave up on it, now I just watch the games and it's much easier.
  2. Starting Wakefield Saturday is also means Mirabelli will be catching and Tek will be a pinch hitter or mid to late inning replacement. Some of the national "experts" will try ot make something of this, but they don't know what we know. Belli has been a guy who has had alot of big games with the bat and I'm perfectly comfortable with him playing for Tek as long as Wake is in the game.
  3. Call me bitter and jaded but I'm older now and I hope MFY fans have a lousy winter.
  4. This is going to be a tough series. Just like the MFY, the Cards have good hitters at 2-3-4-5 in Walker, Pujols, Rolen and Edmonds. Both bullpens are strong, although it looks like Taverez hurt his broken catching hand tonight so it's not known if he'll be available for the series. I still like the Sox in this.
  5. Jeter seemed to me like the only guy in pinstripes who cared last night. Sure, he may posture himself for the cameras, but he is their leader and he does back it up on the field. I happen to think he is their most talented player. Having stated that, it was good to see him lose last night.
  6. How can Tito leave Ortiz out of the lineup? He has to play first, putting Millar in a pinch hit role. The problem this creates is when Tito needs to insert Mank for defensive purposes, then the Sox lose Ortiz's bat in a possible extra inning game.
  7. New York TV sportscaster Sal Marciano was on 1510 The Zone today saying Rodriguez is the biggest "excuse maker" in baseball. He said he saw him one hour before game time last night on the field still trying to explain the play to any reporters who would still listen.
  8. I hope Tito doesn't change a thing for the World Series. Carrying the extra pitcher for the ALCS, even though it was Mendoza, was a great move.
  9. Slapping the ball out of an opposing player's glove is against the rules. Maybe on some Playstation game it's allowed but it's been in the rule book for decades. It was a cheap and desperate attempt that kids try to do on the playground.
  10. From what I'm reading and hearing Tito has it set this way: Wakefield, Schilling, Pedro, Lowe. It looks like Arroyo goes to the bullpen.
  11. IT FEELS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOX WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. For you Dad.... We Win! I'm living a dream...I've gotten no sleep all week and I don't want to sleep tonight!!! More champagne!!!!
  13. I feel good about this game. Damon and Manny need to break out and the bullpen needs to draw inspiration from Curt and reach back. I know we've been here before, but this could be the night we've been waiting for all our lives.
  14. I just thinking about this very same subject. I don't know if Francona has matured, gained enlightenment or is getting lucky but his moves in the playoffs seem to be the right ones. The way he juggled the bullpen over the last three games has been amazing and reshuffling the lineup has been a great move. I'm much more confident about him managing tonight than I was a month ago.
  15. Schilling was a stud. Tek came up clutch and Bellhorn did his Papi impression. We got justice from the umps. The pen got rest, the momentum rolls and we're back for one more!
  16. Rain this afternoon and a chance of showers tonight. Both bullpens would love a rainout, but the Sox have to hope to play to try and keep momentum and hope Schilling goes long. Sox hitters have yet to really explode with a big inning except for Game 1, and they need it tonight. You have to admire Schilling for going out there. I hope his ankle is as strong as his heart.
  17. I know this was a thread that was started in late summer, but it deserves another round. The excitement number 31 has generated over the last two games when he came in as a pinch runner has been off the charts. The Sox in my memory have never had a runner this fast who can shake a pitcher and then steal a base at will. This was a Theo trade that was under the radar in July, but the Sox may not still be playing if not for the base running of Roberts late in the game.
  18. Time for the team to rally behind Pedro. Damon must get on and Manny must get it together and get extra base hits. I like Cabrerra hitting second. Time for Bellhorn to sit. Play Pokey, even his bat is an improvement over Bellhorn right now. Lowe had a good approach to their hitters by coming at them and getting ahead in counts, and Pedro must do the same and get 1-2-3 innings. The emotion will be high and I hope Pedro keeps it in check by not overthrowing in the first inning and walking someone. The Sox must ride the momentum and get to Mussina early and bust into their bullpen.
  19. We're getting no sleep, we've got no arms left in the pen, and we can't wait to play again!! GO SOX!!!
  20. This is a tough one. Pedro has made alot of posturing with his words and frankly he has backed it up with an injury free and sucessful season. The Clemens decision certainly has to come into thinking here for Theo when he considers letting go a player who has earned his fame in a Boston uniform. I also don't think the MFY are as much of an option as people believe. Pedro and Posada clearly have a strong dislike for each other that pre-dates the fight last year in the ALCS. If Pedro does leave I think it will be to a warm weather team. I hope he stays.
  21. It clearly is one thing to build a winning team and another to build a team to beat the MFY. Schilling said it all before the playoffs when he said he can't just pitch good he has to pitch great. I expect the Sox to turn it up tonight out of anger, at least I hope so.
  22. If they have any fight left, they'll win the next two games and not let the MFY celebrate an AL pennant on the Fenway lawn.
  23. pathetic, disgraceful, humiliating, embarassing. There is no consolation in this. There's no pride in making the ACLS and getting your ass handed to you. There's no satisfaction when there is a long list of disappointment that spans decades.
  24. I'm disgusted. Mendoza and Leskanic had nothing.
  25. There was one out! What was Dale Sveum thinking? FIRE SVEUM! NOW!
