  1. As good a spring as Hanley is having I still think he's trade bait on a Ben Sheets deal in July.
  2. I didn't see him turning down the playoff share.
  3. Perhaps he knows he won't be ready by opening day and is trying to let the Sox know now. It really doesn't matter whether he starts that night or not. Early April at night in NY will be too cold anyway and just risk an injury.
  4. If he was still with the Sox I'd say Dave Roberts. But now that he is gone, the biggest ovation has to be for Schilling. He came here for one goal and he delivered. The man is sincere, tough and talented.
  5. This isn't "rubbing it in", it's a tradition the Sox earned. They certainly don't hold back down in their place, with all the signs of titles and the endless video highlights on the scoreboard as the Sox take BP. I say hand out the rings, raise the flag and make Slappy and the gang stand out there and watch.
  6. Mueller should be there opening day, but if not Youk will be fine.
  7. My favorite time of year. I'll be at the March 19th game against Baltimore. Meeting family and friends down there to celebrate again. What a wonderful spring it will be. Maybe start threads on some games, especially to evaluate individual performances.
  8. Last year against the O's the Sox went 9-10 and NY went 14-5 and the Sox lost the division by 3 games. It seems that whoever can beat up Baltimore has a good chance of winning the division.
  9. I wonder if he has any plans for Fat Tuesday?
  10. No expectations at all. Those stats seem to indicate he may have been hurt.
  11. The "Blade" is a good gamble in this trade. How can he miss with that nickname?
  12. I've watched it a thousand times and it's still amazing. Much better than the MLB World Series DVD.
  13. I'm guessing he won't be making a run for it if the opportunity arises. I hope he's alright.
  14. Just keep the traditonal home white and road gray. Marketing this team with gimmick jerseys is really unnecessary. I do like the red sleeves under the jerseys much better than the blue.
  15. I think going after Javy is a good move. I have to think the dbacks want some pitching in addition to Payton, and that may be wind up being Arroyo.
  16. What an opening day. I'm hoping he gets the home opener at Fenway. The entire Schilling interview is Sunday on ESPN.
  17. Wow, a meltdown on his first day. I figured there would be some friction with the media during the year, but it's already happened on day one. He's in for a long year with that bunch of reporters.
  18. Considering I don't make $3.5 million a year, yeah I would keep the ball.
  19. This really sinks pro athletic selfishness to a new low. Of course given the way he hit, he probably does need the money.
  20. You're right. Boggs did take cash for a Drays hat in the hall, but the hall changed its rules and now he does go in with the B on his dome.
  21. Boggs streamrolls the vote into the Hall of Fame. A great Red Sox but I can't help but think of him is on that stupid horse in pinstripes. And to top it off his 3,000 hit came as a Devil Ray.
  22. 2090 sure is a busy bee. There's no sense griping about this, no more so than when a-rod went to them. The Unit whined for this and now he has it, along with all the pressure of having to perform. And like last year, no one is conceeding a thing. Play the games.
  23. I'm curious to read how he learned to beat the curse, considering he didn't show up in the ALCS until Game 7.
  24. It is surprising to see all that Tito did to actually "manage" the players. On the field however, he did make some strange moves that led to alot of discussion here during the season. Somehow Tito grew into the job and by October was making all the right moves.
  25. I have to agree with the posts here that say Minky should stay, but he probably will be the one to be dealt. Millar doesn't play the line very well at first, and while he did make some nice picks at first during the playoffs he did botch that throw to third in WS (a play Big Papi executed to perfection in Game 3).
