  1. We got an indication of Matsuzaka's talent at the WBC. He's no Nomo
  2. I really want this Matsuzaka deal done because we certainly don't want a repeat of last season in which guys like Snyder and Taveraz were used as starters. Schilling and Wakefield are over 40, Beckett was very inconsistent and Lester might not be ready. I'm glad to see Pappelbon move back to the rotation but that leaves a hole at closer and I don't think Timlin is the answer there. We haven't done anything to address our pitching problems which makes the Dice-K signing urgent IMO.
  3. I believe a compromise can be reached. The Red Sox want a deal and so does Matsuzaka. It's been a major distraction at work the last two days, constantly checking for updates
  4. The Mets are not going to trade Milledge, at least that's what I hear from my die hard Met fan co workers
  5. The New York Daily News says the Mets, Red Sox, Orioles and Devil Rays may be discussing a four-team deal that would send Manny Ramirez to New York; Miguel Tejada and Joey Gathright to Boston; Julio Lugo, Matt Clement and maybe Kris Benson to Baltimore and Andy Marte, Aaron Heilman, Jae Seo and Kaz Matsui to Tampa Bay.
  6. How about the curse of Don Mattingly?
  7. I must have it! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0009IXRLW/qid=1119752972/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/103-3139529-4843811?v=glance&s=dvd#product-details
  8. Another rough outing for Schilling tonight. He's obviously still in rehab mode but I remain confident that he will come around. Miller was scheduled to pitch for Portland today but it was rained out. He'll go tomorrow. I am impressed with Wells last two starts and Clement was outstanding in his last start at Baltimore.
  9. I think Clement faces Pavano on Tuesday. It's a long season.
  10. Yeah the home opener when the rings are handed out.
  11. Here's an update: Curt Schilling will likely make his season debut on April 13 against the Yankees, the Boston Red Sox ace said Saturday after pitching the equivalent of 8 1-3 innings in a minor league intrasquad game. Schilling allowed one run, four hits, struck out eight and walked two. He threw 88 pitches, 64 for strikes. In the seventh inning, Schilling got seven outs before stopping for the day. "The 13th is the day I think that we're shooting for now," he said. "I'm assuming that I can come off (the disabled list) right around then, and that's when I'll be ready to go." Miller update: "I don't think it's going to take that long," he said. "I'm just trying to iron some things out in my delivery." Miller said he thinks he could join the Red Sox during the last week of April. "That's what I'm hoping for," he said. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/B/BBA_RED_SOX_SCHILLING?SITE=NYBIN&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
  12. Well there could be a rainout
  13. I knew this was a prank the minute I read it on Dirtdogs. There is no chance Canseco would survive five minutes in a major league clubhouse!
  14. Pavano is the only Yankee starter that really worries me. I don't like their bullpen. Do the Yankees really believe that Stanton and Gordon are going to get it done and Rivera is getting old. If Schilling comes back strong and Miller makes it back then I think we can win again.
  15. The Boston Red Sox traded reliever Byung-Hyun Kim to the Colorado Rockies, calling the $10 million, two-year deal they gave him in 2004 "a mistake." http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/B/BBO_RED_SOX_ROCKIES_TRADE?SITE=NYBIN&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
