  1. As Jerry said on NESN, what a great Fenway moment. Watching Manny come up and crack that hit washed away all the bad feelings. Actually there were two great moments, the first one being Papelbon's first inning when he K'd two hitters and walked off to a standing O.
  2. This guy is hitting .213, with 54 K's amd 42 walks in 202 AB's, an OBP pf .347. It looks to me like a Bellhorn clone.
  3. I picked this up off of SOSH: Fox radio is reporting Manny came very late to Fenway tonight; part of the reason Tito sat him.
  4. I think he's an obvious head case, who can hit bombs and drive in runs like no one else. I think he needs to be treated like a spoiled child. Just let him calm down and he'll be fine.
  5. So Manny appears to be happy at Fenway after the game, but he's still not happy enough to be able to clear his head and play tomorrow, which means he's still unhappy. Can you say bipolar?
  6. Kaps with 2 hits, another beig RBI night from the Helmet, Boomer in command on the hill. It's a shame this Manny thing is hanging a big cloud over a great night at Fenway. I do not like the Foxwoods ads. I want the old song back from last year.
  7. Olerud is having a great night, but I don't like him hitting 4th behind Ortiz for the rest of the season.
  8. I hope the FO is getting a good look at Ortiz being walked intentionally. That's what the rest of the season will look like if Manny's gone.
  9. 10 in a row tonight, so far. He is the team's best pitcher right now and has to be a Game 1 starter in any playoff series.
  10. Bill Madden this afternoon on the NY Daily News is reporting the front office is actually divided on trading Manny. This is really starting to go bad, especially if the FO can't agree on this. http://www.nydailynews.com/front/breaking_news/story/332894p-284491c.html "The initial driving force behind the spirited discussions had been Red Sox CEO Larry Lucchino, who had been incensed by Manny Ramirez’s recent behavior, from refusing to play last week after Trot Nixon suffered an oblique strain because he needed a day off despite the shortage of outfielders, to his latest annual trade request. Lucchino’s willingness to part with Ramirez, the AL’s home run and RBI leader entering the weekend, who was booed at Fenway Park on Friday night during each plate appearance, had created a division within the Sox hierarchy. GM Theo Epstein and other front-office personnel were against trading Ramirez, realizing that would be the start of a need to retool the entire team."
  11. I agree on Byrnes. Maybe Theo plans to turn Bigbie around in another deal.
  12. That's not the point. He's apparently selfish, and overpaid.
  13. I think the Phillies took Wagner off the table. I thought Shoppach was in the Manny deal. I think this may kill the Manny trade.
  14. I will not be an apologist for Manny. For all his millions, the team needed him and he said "No". That says alot about him as a person.
  15. Why this guy was thrown in with the Nomar deal last year seemed to annoy Sox fans including myself. It seems there was good reason. Now he's up playing outfield at Wrigley with 14 hits in his first 29 at bats.
  16. Delcarmen barely has had a cup of coffee in triple A. They've already ruined Meredith by rushing him up, now this.
  17. Absolutely. So trading Mueller is not only possible, but likely. Funny though how this rumor of sending him to a "turf" team came out right after the NY game and this issue of Mueller not wanting to play 2B because of his knees. I don't think the FO tolerates this sort of stuff and Billy may have already punched his ticket out of here.
  18. I'm talking about next year. Will Tony G come cheaper than Mueller next year? Will Theo want to pay them both when he already has Youk?
  19. Cedeno has pitched 80 innings this year with 71 k's and 10 hit batters. He is a hard thrower, who, IF he can gain some control COULD be a big leaguer, but who knows.
  20. Mueller is far from a perfect third baseman. He often gets beat by ground balls down the line, which probably has more to do with positioning yet he also has an occasional habit of backing up on ground balls. Still he has proven to be a clutch hitter, a yankee killer, especially against Rivera, and his switch hitting is an asset. I don't think he would be too expensive to keep next year, but I think the bigger factor is Youk, and whether or not he can play first base. If not, it may be up to Mueller to decide if he wants to go to second base. If he doesn't want to play second, it's always better to get someone for him rather than just let him walk.
  21. This is out of Minneapolis today. Mueller for JC Romero being discussed. http://www.startribune.com/stories/509/5513393.html
  22. So far it's not a good week for Tito. We find out Olerud didn't get to pinch hit Sunday because Francona promised Mueller he wouldn't play second base and since Billy was on base Tito couldn't ask him at the last minute. And then there is Monday against Tampa. Warming up Embree in the pen and still letting Miller pich to Gathright, a lefthanded hitter, with the bases loaded and two out. Gathright delivers a two run hit and THEN Embree comes in to strike out Crawford. It's now at the point where these decisions are costing wins.
  23. Too funny, too honest and too sad.
