  1. Hey guys, i remember being an original member here when this place first opened up and contributed frequently, but havent been on the boards in quite some time. Figured id come back and see whats up and looks like we have a very nice community here. So the sox are controlling the AL East which is a good thing, and hopefully come october, we enter the playoffs as AL East Champs. Ive watched or listened to many of the games this season (probally listened more because i work at night) and im very impressed with pitching this season. Beckett has been dominant all year long, Schill had a streak of doing well, but then slumped off and landed himself on the DL. Matsusaka looked brilliant early on, got shaky for a while, but his past 5-6 starts have been superb. Wake has been wake, and up until recently, Tavarez had been filling in quite nicely in the 5 spot. Offensively it has been a pleasure to watch players like Youk and Lowell have terrific first halfs of the season and be able to carry the team when bats like Ortiz and Manny, have almost been dorment. J.D. Drew had been slumping all season but as of late had been hitting the ball well, until recent hamstring injury. Lugo has been like Cesar Crespo and absolutely sucked all season. But we are seeing signs now of him hitting the ball, and hopefully raising his average before the season ends. Pedrioa has been a surprise and is filling in nicely over at 2nd base. Manny has been less than Manny this season, hopefully he picks up the pace soon. Coco within the past month and a half has been tearing the cover off the ball and is producing like the Coco Crisp we thought we got. The bench is what scares me the most. Besides Cora who has been doing well, we got Mirabelli, Hinske and wily mo. Nothing is really ever expected out of mirabelli except to catch Wake, and the occasional homerun. Hinske has been alright off the bench but i would rather have Rooking of the year Eric Hinske. And finally I think we all believe that Wily Mo Must Go. Hes good for a homerun every 500 at bats, which isnt cutting the mustard. He has no discipline what so ever at the plate which makes him a bad hitter, if someone could teach that guy some patience, and proper hitting techniques, and he would be a fine player. The pen has been great all season, Okijima has been the dark horse of the leauge this year with an era under 1 and a whip under 1. Del Carmen has been lights out lately, and timlin, as of late, has pitched pretty decent. and Pap is Pap and is just dirty. If the offense picks up, the pitching stays solid, we add a starter, and add a quality utility/off the bench player, the sox will easily take the division and be a threat in the post season. Hope to stick around for a while and contribute more to the forums. I love the redsox, and hope the continue this dominance. This is a great forum with great insight from fans all around. GO SOX!
  2. Bruce Sutter was the only player elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame Today
  3. Has Trot ever played center before?
  4. They are saying on ESPNNEWS right now that Gary Payton could come back to Boston
  5. Danny Ainge has successfully made 3 bogus trades this season Walter to Denver for a Draft Pick Welsch to Cavs for 2007 first rounder GP, Gug's, Stewart and future DP, for Antione 3 trades, only 1 player in return
  6. He threw 47 pitches today and Schill was dissapointed, but Francona and Wallace said that he looked great http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2005/02/24/schilling_returns_to_mound_at_red_sox_camp_throws_47_pitches/
  7. Celtics trade Gary Payton, Tom Gugliotta, Michael Stewart and a future first round draft pick to the Atlanta Hawks for Atione Walker can't wait to here YanksHater's reaction to this one http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1998923
  8. heh i remember that game
  9. hmm i should have just said players in general instead of pitchers, but Tom Glavine sticks out like a soar thumb, not to mention John Franco who has always been with the mets and has always sucked Bobby Bonilla, Vince Coleman, Mo Vaughn, and Roberto Alomar all come to mind for players who were once good, but come to the mets to suck
  10. Congrats Wade Boggs
  11. good, ive always liked Hasleman
  12. Why is this thread even still going? Pedro is with the mets, the team all pitchers go at their twilight, to slowly unwind, get worse, and then eventually, retire.
