  1. If Snyder starts today (Wednesday) for Lowell he’d be next available on Monday. Isn’t that when the Sox would need their 5th starter again?
  2. Ouch. The mix of fact and fiction kind hurts. Hopefully the home Beckett with the 2.54 ERA will show up for this game, and not the road Beckett, who’s been getting pounded with the long ball. I think he’s got a good chance here…a home game against a team that hasn’t faced him yet this year.
  3. Buck announced that Fox has secured 7 more years of MLB coverage for the AS and WS games.
  4. I agree. Young with the 2 out clutch hit, has to be MVP.
  5. I’m laughing my ass off reading this thread from beginning to end. ..Possible tragedy, big tits, latent homosexuality (?), great knocks on Dumbo…all topped off with a “f*** off“.
  6. Papi saves A-Rod from a near throwing error. That’s one for the books.
  7. The Loretta AB with Arroyo pitching and Freddy Sanchez making the play was almost haunting.
  8. Commissioners Historic Achievement Award goes to #21 Roberto Clemente, well deserved. Did you notice how the cable got wrapped up around Selig’s ankle? I was so hoping he’d trip.
  9. Beltran is an excellent base runner.
  10. They probably gave him free tickets to see the tryouts for American Idol.
  11. WTF, Fox has David Wright plugging the show 24.
  12. Yeah, like 99 mph fastballs too. Expect to see Penny on the DL anytime soon after tonight.
  13. Totally agree. All of his actions concerning the ASG are dumbass moves that usually prove to be nothing but reactionary blunders. For example a few years back the game ends in a tie because there were no pitchers left. His response, make the games “count” by determining home field advantage for the WS to the league that wins. What does one have to do with the other?
  14. Interesting article. Good find. Was anyone else aware that Manny was suffering from specifically this injury? Will Carroll makes it sound like this is readily available information, but until today, I’ve never heard or read about it. I wish he had given a source. It does reinforce the team’s decision not to have Manny play in the ASG. And maybe adds more credibility that the Sox might be looking for help this season in the OF (Abreu).
  15. If WMP wasn’t coming back soon then I’d say the trade would make more sense. A 35 year old guy coming off shoulder surgery in April doesn’t fill me with any confidence that he’s going to be much of a power threat this year.
  16. Despite Harris’ utility value I still think Seanez ranks a bit higher than him on the roster food chain. He came in the extra innings game and actually threw 2 scoreless innings after not working for almost 2 weeks. Both have obviously fallen out of favor with Tito with their respective diminished roles, but an arm in the pen can always be used for mop up, saving some of the other productive relievers. And why just DFA Seanez? Despite his suckitude he could still be of some value in the trade market, given the very thin pool of pitching that’s currently out there. Theo spent good money (albeit foolishly) on purchasing Johnson’s contract, so there’s gotta be some contending team that could use a Seanez.
  17. I don’t know what sticks out more: Laura’s cans or Dumbo’s ears. Anyway, I glad she and her kids are okay.
  18. I think I'll vote in the poll now.
  19. It could be a salary dump for Philly to the tune of about $18M if it’s an straight one-for-one deal.
  20. This article from SI.com discusses the Abreu/Nixon trade and doesn’t mention anything about young pitchers being involved. If it’s a straight up Nixon for Abreu trade, or something close without any young pitchers being involved...except maybe Abe Alvarez, then you‘ve gotta consider it. (Wouldn’t it be nice to send Clement off on this one and get rid of his contract too.)
  21. Put a microphone in front of Paps and he’s a hot s***.
  22. I like how Papi is wearing his cap on backwards tonight, even while batting.
  23. Papi’s 1st 5 HR’s all outside of the park, 4 in the water on bounces. Edit: Updated Edit again: 10 HR’s in the first round and all but 2 (I think) in the water. f***ing amazing.
  24. Cool link for tracking distances Live video feed
  25. Abreu would be under contract until at least 2007. This would give the Sox another year to continue with an OF platoon (Abreu/WMP) and give WMP an extra year to develop. By then end of next year they should have a clear picture of WMP’s abilities and potential, and can make a decision then what their future OF will be like. I basically look at this way: It gives the Sox an extra year with a seasoned outfielder, without the history of health problems that Trot has.
