  1. I think it’s clear that Dye has figured out Beckett, sitting on it the whole AB.
  2. Until the Sox know for sure that Clement can’t make a comeback, their hands are kind of tied with the #5 starter issue.
  3. Productive out for Mirabelli.
  4. Mike Lowell with the big hit.
  5. You must be talking about next season.
  6. Youk looks like he could use some down time.
  7. I’d rather have Trot batting after Manny than Tek, like last night.
  8. Beckett’s home vs. road splits for giving up HR’s is amazing.
  9. I noticed that Gonzo isn’t in the starting lineup today. Why, when he went 4 for 4 last night?
  10. Good point. I’m wondering if playing all of his time in Pro Player Stadium until this year had some effect on his career batting avg. Maybe it’s the ballpark, I don’t know, but it’s becoming apparent that he is flourishing in the AL.
  11. The Sox FO philosophy is usually to have players play out their contract. In the cases where the player does get the extension it’s almost always been for a $ amount that would be considered a hometown discount. In Gonzo’s case it probably would be more advantageous for him to wait it out. Unless he gets injured it’s not like his value is dropping.
  12. I’m surprised the Sox would be willing to put forth the effort to salvage Johnson. And I don’t expect much especially since scrap heap pickups under Theo’s coaching staff have a poor record of recovery.
  13. From Rotoworld: Makes you wonder if he’ll break 50 by the end of the season.
  14. Per NESN, tonight was his first 4-hit game since Sept 2001.
  15. I like how MDC was used tonight, coming into the 7th when the game was still close. He’s definitely showing he’s worthy of high lev situations like that.
  16. I'd say this seems about reasonable...3 years/$20M.
  17. Good win for Lester against the toughest offensive lineup he’s faced so far.
  18. Gonzo having a good night at the plate.
  19. Trot has obviously never been a free agent. If it comes to the point that he decides to test the market, I’m curious what kind of offers he’d get.
  20. For Pauley, I think he needs to spend consistent developmental time in AAA for now. Snyder would seem the likely choice from inside the organization. I’m not sure what more can be gained for him to staying in the minors and having options allows for roster flexibility. I’m wondering why Abe Alavarez never gets mentioned. They’ve already brought him up this year so his last option year has been used. At the very least he should be able to do a better job than what we’ve seen from Johnson, and if he can’t then he probably doesn’t deserve to be on the 40 man roster.
  21. IMO when the Sox traded for WMP it became clear what Trot’s future was after this season. I think if he stays healthy and continues to produce offensively then he’s in a good position to land himself a decent 3 or 4 year deal when the season ends. He’s at that point in his career when it will probably be his last opportunity to get anything longterm. Business is business and it will be sad to see him go, but understandable.
  22. Does anyone know the usual turnaround time for the academy? In other words about how long should be expected for a player in the academy to become a worthy prospect? I can’t find any real info online for this and I’m curious about the Sox’s success rate in both their Venezuelan and DR complexes. I know the DR academy opened in 2003 so I thought by now we’d be hearing more about this.
  23. Manny hits a 2 run HR…the FIRST time in this whole series the Sox have had the lead.
  24. I’m not sure which is worse: that the Sox could only get 4 hits tonight or Johnson’s terrible performance. Crawford’s steal of home was maybe the worst. Johnson was clueless, pitching from the windup, knowing that Crawford is a known base stealer.
  25. The Blue Jays are hanging tough coming in with a 47-36 record and are by no means out of the equation in the East. They’ve been strong against Boston this season with a 7-4 record as of today.
