  1. Just speculating, but who else thinks Frank Thomas juiced at some point in his career.
  2. Taken from Sox fan in Tex’s post in the “BOS will lose 3 of 4 to OAK” thread: Nostradamus?
  3. Worst home game this year for Beckett
  4. Yeah he was great when he gave up 2 HR in one game to Ty Wiggington.
  5. Great D by the Sox in this inning.
  6. Nice catch by Milton Bradley…dammit.
  7. Matt Clement inarguably could be added to the list.
  8. Given how the Sox have struggled against lefties I expect this to be the most challenging game of the series.
  9. 14 LOB by the Sox has hurt too.
  10. From Sunday and tonight's game the Sox have 29 LOB. Edit LOB
  11. I can’t recall a pitcher who’s lived on the DP like Lester.
  12. Excellent…keep the pressure on Loiaza.
  13. Forget that he sucked in the NL, is out of shape, has major temper and alcohol problems, plus a stubborn streak…he’s a great pickup for the Yankees.
  14. Wow another sucky ex-Oriole pitcher rejoins the AL East. Didn’t the Cards DFA him to be replaced with Jeff Weaver?
  15. Announced on WEEI that Craig Breslow has been called up to take Johnson’s spot on the 25 man roster. Included with the announcement that this will be only until Monday when Snyder will more than likely get the call. *Wasn’t WMP the one expected to get the call today? *Breslow isn’t on the 40 man roster. What moves will the Sox make to accommodate this?
  16. This is one of the facts that became really clear when the Sox were on the road in Florida (Marlins & D-Rays). Maybe with WMP returning he can add some offense that's been lacking against lefties. I'm concerned how the Sox would hold up against a predominantly left handed rotation in a postseason situation.
  17. If the Sox feel that Johnson will never be effective and won‘t give him a chance to start, then why spend all of the time and effort to try to restore his pitching?
  18. I found this on redsox.com which refers to the no trade protection resulting from Tek‘s 2004 contract.
  19. The one thing I get out of all of this is how tight lipped the Sox have been, and for good reason. HIPPA regulations prevent Sox officials from discussing publicly the exact details of his medical condition. Since Will Carroll didn’t cite any specific sources you can only guess that his claim of the meniscus tear is true or not. It’s a plausible explanation, but beyond that we don’t know the extent of his injury.
  20. One important fact that I don’t believe has been mentioned is that Trot is nearing his 8th full season with the Sox. From what I calculate it will be sometime toward the end of this season. When Tek’s new contact was given in 2004 a clause was added, thanks to Scott Boras, that stipulates any player who’s been on the team for 8 full uninterrupted seasons, is guaranteed no-trade protection. Unless the Sox make a move to trade Trot before the 8th year kicks in, and presumably before the trade deadline, then he will have that no-trade protection.
  21. For the most part Tito has avoided using Seanez lately. Up until the extra innings game he hadn’t pitched in almost 2 weeks. He was the last arm in the pen when he came into the last CWS game. Tito had given Seanez several chances to prove he’s worthy of being used in high lev situations, and when he failed to perform, he eventually found his way to the dog house. As long as Theo keeps Seanez on the roster, Tito has no choice but to use him, albeit sparingly.
