  1. I think the whole idea of a captain in baseball is a bit overblown. I mean does Jeter really lead his team? But if the Sox were to name someone I'd go with Varitek. By example and his preparedness he's a leader and role model for all the players.
  2. Yeah Crespo let us down, AGAIN, and I keep thinking Tony Womack...But it was more than just Crespo. Players like Mueller are just not coming through with the timely hitting they gave us last year. The offense is sputtering now and it’s getting clear that Manny and Bellhorn, and Tek can’t carry us anymore. And what about Dickey's "Thing" pitch.
  3. The clock is ticking for Crespo. For when Nomar returns from the DL he's going to be dispatched to Pawtucket, where he rightfully belongs. Maybe there he can get enough AB's to get his bat hot, kind of like it was in Spring Training. He's nothing more than a AAA player and his weaknesses are more than evident.
  4. Sox offense tonight = YAWN. Hopefully Schilling can stop the bleeding in Cleveland tomorrow. And even better the Sox bats start showing some pulse. They've made Dickey look awesome tonight.
  5. No-brainer that Nomar’s bat is superior, but defensively I'd have to give the edge to Reese. His quickness and range I'd say seems better than Nomar’s, who is by far no slouch himself. But if the discussion was would Pokey be capable in taking over the SS position next year if Nomar walks..? Well I'd have to say yes, but obviously the bat would have to be made up elsewhere in the lineup.
  6. Yeah Wake deserves some support for another fine start tonight. We're lucky to have Wake (as our #4) because he's been the most consistent starter this year. Once again this unsung hero for the Sox quietly goes about his business.
