2024 doing a LOT of lifting for Duran.

"Actually, if you average out his last three seasons, he's still a 4.5 WAR guy!"

Even before 2026, he was still coming off a 4 fWAR season…

Contreras could have played DH

Haven’t the Red Sox been at their best when they’ve had a dedicated POWER bat as the DH?

Not sure why the Sandoval deal bothers so many.  Do people really think the other option for that $18mill was Dylan Cease?

Sandoval came back just when the Sox needed another starter and gave the Sox 70 innings.  He was brought on to be depth, and depth he was.

I assume the Sox will sign another rehab pitcher at some point, if the right deal can be found…

Sandoval 2/18.25M

Same offseason:

Andrew Kittredge 2/18M

Josh Bell&Kyle Finnegan 1/12M

Grichuk&Martin Perez 1/10M

There are lots of ways to spend Sandoval's money and reclaim value in '25 and either have a guy for '26 or have money left over to spend.

I didn't care then and I care even less now. They have lost so much trade value in him and it's all your fault. 😤

Where have we heard this from?

Everything goes by his desk per his bike ride to WEEI 25 years ago.

Look at what bands charge for concerts.

It's not the bands setting the prices...

Yes, it's almost certainly the case from what we've heard.

I'd bet that's the case with most owners.  Owners that become overly involved with the team generally don't do well.  Maybe an investment in Soto, or Skubal, might require a higher-level review.

Off-topic, but one of my pet peeves.  In one of the companies I worked for, you'd need like three signatures to buy a PC if it was > $1,000, plus approval from Japan.  But a second year engineer could sign off on $250k projects that would cost serious remediation $$$ if the thru-put couldn't be achieved.

And I would do it again in a minute!  In fact, wait until you see how I tank his value tjis off-season!  The Sox will be lucky if they can swap him for a used Radio Flyer plastic wagon with 2.5 wheels!

Give me a plastic wagon over one that is metal and just going to rust in my garage TBH.

That company didn't have its priorities straight TBH

As a 5th starter/rp in 2025? Sure! Better than 9M on the IL.

I like to drink, so it can get expensive.  But on the days that I am not going to drink until after the game, I bring a sandwich from home, buy a Coke from the Dollar Store across the street, and spend like $30 total for the game.

Sounds like me. I sneak my own soda and popcorn into the movies.

True nuff.

Still it's the same model. Charge the most you can to a point where you maximize profit.

The hardships on the fans is not really considered, except to identify the point where they won't pay and the profit margin would start to decline.

Knowing our luck, we'd catch him on his down year, or he'd get hurt.

Craziest thing I ever saw.  They did eventually change it, and I raised the capitalization requirements so desktops were no longer part of capex.  Every company I worked for had a capitalization requirement of $1,000.  I told them every one of them that the $1,000 requirement you had 20 years is worth maybe $250 now.  And they had 100s of these things on their ledgers, and most were in a garbage dump long before the 5-year depreciation was done.  And then they would try to audit them, but not a single one of them was with the original user because we swapped out desktops every day.  I went to $5,000 and no one disagreed.  Then I went to $10,000 and no one disagreed.

/end of rant/

It's not even sneaking.  One of my friends takes a few ounces of Coke out, adds some rum, then closes it so tight that security couldn't open even if they wanted to.

That's true with everything.  I paid $15 for my first Led Zepplin concert.  They could charge $1,000 now and sell out.

I'd only pay to see Led Zep if John Bonham was drumming.

You might be getting a little bit entitled.
