Maybe Duran.  I still think a DFA is more likely than a trade for Yoshida and Story.

Unless it’s a bad contract swap, like Story for Semien…

Yes let’s trade Story for Semien. Semien is 36, and has TWO more years left on his contract.🤭🙈🤮

Bello would replace Bennett. They would have to hope Gray re-signs though. The guys you listed are far too injured to be counted on even for a 5th starter role.

Crochet, Tolle, Gray, Suarez, Bello

And really, the bad FA class does have a couple intriguing starting pitchers even after Skubal.  King, Peralta, Imanaga, Rogers…

Well, I think the Mets would take it.

Semien’s longer deal is an issue, but he rarely misses time and has an excellent swing for Fenway.

More important, that deal was prefaced as a “bad contract swap.”   That does mean taking back a different bad contract.  Not sure why that part of it  surprised you

I know one big difference between Story and Semien!

Yes, but his bat has gotten a lot heavier his last three years, and most likely even more so his next two. If you want him make the call to Brez.

I'm not very intrigued by Imanaga at Fenway.

*** Rogers: 6'5" LHP, 92nd percentile BB rate & chase rate, coming off career high in starts and IP

He's just a better bet to be available than Story. Not saying I'd do the swap though.

If it was one year for one year that would be a different story, but swapping 1 year for 2 years is something I don’t see Brez even contemplating making the call let alone doing it. That would be double bad.🙈

That I agree with. I don’t think if somehow Brez could unload Story, and even most of his contract he be looking to get his replacement back.

One year for 4 years would be bad.  One for two is not ideal, but not horrible.  The reduction in years is the biggest incentive for the Mets to make such a swap..

Maybe Mets would eat some of the salary too?

You keep saying the Mets would make the deal, but I don’t see Brez even pondering the deal to take back at 36 year old 2B who’s been declining the past 3 years at that, and has two more years on his contract. Incentive for the Mets would not be an Incentive for the Red Sox. DENIED!

Trade Story and have the other team eat salary? Looking better..

Fine you want a 36 year old 2B in decline for TWO more years? DENIED!

Did you foresee Brez sending Eyanson, Witherspoon, Narvaez and Rivas for Rutschman?   Do you have any track record with predicting Breslow’s deals?

Do you not get how examples work?

Go get a 3B man with some pop (easier said than done) and move Durbin across to 2B,

I don't like moving GGs, but Paredes might be available with just one year of control left.  Or as I mentioned elsewhere, now is the opportune time to go after Ketel.  He was beloved last year.  He is one year older, but should be a heck of a lot cheaper.

Plays every day with a good Fenway swing?  It’s worth contemplating.  Especially if all the Sox are giving up is one year of Trevor Story….

we need to get somebody. there is no way we don't lose one of our projected starters to injury. send Bennett to AAA until he's needed if we have to.

It’s hilarious to hear all this Red Sox now need a 3B talk after trading Raffy away, and only signing Bregman for a one, and done. Ketel may be cheaper to get from Arizona’s point of view, but he’s also a head case, and would really jell with the whack a doodle the Red Sox have a 1B.

Sox don’t need a 3b.  And Devers doesnt play 3b anymore anyway, and most likely never will again…

It didn’t surprise me at all that Brez traded a bunch of Suspects even for an injury riddled catcher who has declined the past few years. Trading for a 36 year old 2B who’s also been in decline for 3 years now, and has two more years left on his contract is not even close to the same thing, and not even a good comparison.

Durbin is perfect at 3b.

His glove is, but he’s just not productive enough for some.

San Fran already had a good 3B there when Raffy was traded to them. Not even close to the same situation as Boston.

It was more of a statement about you and your perception of Breslow’s MO.  You know, since you get invited to all the meetings.

I don’t know how Breslow feels about Story, but if he does try to trade him, I don’t see hetting back anything more exciting than Semien…

Devers wasn’t playing 3b here when he was traded. He has played 1 game at third base since 2024.  His days at 3b have been over for for a while now,…

DENIED! If you really think that the Red Sox wants a 36 year old 2B in decline who has two more years left on their contract starting for them just to get rid of Story here’s your sign.🙈

Ketel is damaged goods and should come MUCH cheaper now.

Wonder if HOU is more likely to hold onto Paredes after squeaking into the playoffs again?

It was over, because Brez had a brain fart for a one, and done. Raffy’s bat was missed in the postseason last year, and Raffy’s bat was missed in the postseason this past year against the Yankees, and especially in Yankee Stadium. I would rather have had Raffy’s lack of D, but big bat than the other way around with someone like DUBin especially postseason time.

Story was also one of the squeakiest wheels when Cora was fired.

While Story was on the active roster: Red Sox 31-39 (including WC)
